YG DD40 dial choice

Hi everyone,

Hoping to pick up a DD40 as my first PM watch. Ive decided as its my first PM and I have other SS watches to go YG.

Last choice to make seems also the hardest... what dial?

I think I've eliminated the diamond dials as they just aren't my cup of tea. I think as I have a white daytona I've also eliminated the white dial. Champagne maybe seems a bit too much gold and poor legibility. So that leaves three options... Black (stick) or Silver (stick or romans).

What do the members of this forum prefer and any other advice before putting down my deposit.

Currently I think the black dial slightly wins for me due to lume, motif pattern and legibility.

Thanks

Based on what you have and what you’ve said, I’d go black... Unless you have other SS black dials in which case silver motif.

I'd go with green dial with roman numerals.

I don’t believe you can with YG, only RG/WG.

What a picture! I have to admit, I find the Daytona relatively hard to read, so glad you find it easier with the day date.

If it wasn’t my only DD I would definitely want a champagne in my collection, but for a one and only PM I still think maybe I’m better choosing a different dial.

Just realised in the OP i said silver stick or motif... they are the same! I was suppose to say stick or romans!

I really like the look the silver romans, and I am torn between this and the black stick.

Lume sticks vs timeless look
sun burst vs motif

both amazing...going to be hard to pick one

Great picture btw

YG DD40 dial choice

I was between this and black motif as Romans’ don’t appeal to me right now. Very happy with my choice. Was worried the motif would be annoying but I really like it as it makes the watch look just a tad more modern imao. The light dial tend to look better in more lighting situations while black is more bad ass.

Peters pictures might have pushed me over ;)

I would not recommend the black dial unless this will be your only watch. There are many black dials that you will have in other watches. So for something different that stands apart from other possible watches in your collection; the silver or white dial would be more unique.

For same reason I would suggest the deconstructed Romans. It’s far more distinct than the lumed sticks. However yes, this will make it almost impossible to read in the dark.

The YG - Silver dial with Romans above is gorgeous. I’ve seen the white and that looks fantastic as well.

I just picked up the silver diagonal motif dial. Could not be happier. The silver changes a bit to gold depending on lighting and the texture of the dial is unbelievable.

I really like the dials with the deconstructed romans, but I feel the motif dial just has so much more personality. I also like the black motif dial, but in my eyes the texture just gets lost in all that black.

Good luck on your choice!

Silver dial getting a lot of love! I can see why too. Surprised the black motif isn’t as popular as I thought it would be... I guess there are no wrong choices here though!

I would go champagne on YG DD40, but I like classics.

I would go with champagne dial, because it's more versatile. I personally would not wear a silver / white dial with a dark outfit nor would I wear a black dial with a light outfit, but champagne goes with anything.

Also, it's a more classic and uniform look, plus legibility is surpassingly good.

Romans or sticker indices is up to personal preference.

For a DD40 I personally would go with a dial that has the deconstructed roman numerals. That would be one of the primary reasons I'd go with the 40 over the 36.
