Opinions on this 7928

Looking for some extra eyes on this 7928. Looks like MK7 with the open, but gilt chapter ring. Obviously the dial has some moisture (or something else, UV?) damage and the case has seen some polishing, buth chamfers are present and lugs still look thick. How about the hands?

The K12 (Dec 1986) 91350 is obviously not original to the watch, which doesn't bother me in the slightest.

How does it look otherwise?

I just don’t like that. Sorry. Can I ask what you like about it?

Also what insert does it have?

I guess I just like watches that have evidence of a life lived.

Do you know the serial number?

I’m struggling to work out what version of insert it has.

I’m not keen on the dial as it looks damaged. I’d also say that the hands don’t feel like they have been through the same life as the dial.

I’d appreciate others views but this one doesn’t feel right/good to me. I think there are better aged options out.

Nice. The watch has lived a hard life but still looks cool even with the dial stains. The hands appear to be relumed? It’s vintage so it will have flaws but thats the beauty of it in my opinion.

Trying to get the serial. I think it’s a Mk7…so late production run. Does the bezel look off? It’s super faded, but beyond that?

Images and description leave MUCH to be desired, for some fairly high dollar watches, it's kind of concerning, IMO.

4 or 5 images and this is all they can muster:
*Watches are sold as-is. We do not guarantee mechanical functionality or water resistance.

*Photos should be considered as part of the description.

Steel City Vintage should have a nice 7928 1966 coming soon.

Insert is aftermarket.
Case is good in original looks to be just polished by time. Couple dings but that's normal.
Minute hand is original and possibly the seconds hand. For some reason the our hand looks oversized, could just be the image, But it is suspect.

Dial looks like a 65-67 silver writing gold outer.

Patina or damage to left hand side of dial - I sometimes like that mottled effect.... but I much prefer if it's even across the dial though.

Hands look perhaps recoloured/lumed with too little tarnish for that dial....and the HR hand mercedes three 120° prongs very thin and shape bit odd.

Bad photo but Insert perhaps looks iffy/fake .. the sharp corners of the inner square within each of the 0's jumped out at me immediately !

The more that I think about the hands, the more that I think they are service hands for an older 7928 or maybe a 7924. The hour hand is larger and longer than any 7928 I recall.

The Mercedes hand stood out to me as well.

Thanks for the feedback. I'm passing on this as I cannot get the seller to respond to any of my questions, and their lack of information about the watch feels very dubious.

Dial is badly damaged. Why even consider a watch like this, at any price?

I'm a hard 'no' on that insert... but easily replaceable!

Like the dial patina myself... case looks in pretty good nick!

Figured I'd do the seller a solid and mention that they checked the serial and it starts with 506xxx dating this piece to circa 1967.

506K would be 1966

Yes, my bad! So...

Case serial is from '66, but the dial looks like a MK7 (silver/white writing with a an open gilt track) which should coincide with an approximate serial range of 570xxx to 598xxx according to TudorSub.com

Yes I'd usually expect silver writing chapter ring for that serial number tbh....

Hi Turo, Linesiders - what's the upper serial bound you've seen for a silver writing chapter ring dial?

Thanks! I've seen a few 56X,XXX with the chapter ring, so wasn't sure if this is just overlap or potential dial swaps.
