Help with my Panerai

My Local AD told me today that after market straps that have their own spring bars will damage the push-piece button in the lug of Paerais. He said that I can use after market straps but must use the panerai spring bars. I'm asking because I bought a strap that has the spring bars permanently attached. Anybody have thoughts on this.

Also, what's your favorite after market rubber/silicone strap for a Panerai?

thanks!

The panerai subforum or a panerai dedicated forum would probably have more answers.

Personally, with all of my dozens and dozens of OEM and aftermarket straps, I’ve never had one provided with spring bars. In fact, I’ve never seen it as an option. I’m still on my original spring bars from 2011. My watch has a lug width of 24 mm.

If the Panerai has the push button release system which you seem to imply, I would only use OEM Panerai spring bars.

I too have never seen straps sold with any type of spring bar, let alone "permanently attached" and I have bought many. Nor can I imagine how you could use it permanently affixed under any scenario.

Another vote for OEM for quick release.

yes. you should not use a spring bar not designed for the quick release mechanism. there is notch on the original spring bar. without this nocth, the spring loaded plunger will be compressed all the time. will it damage the mechanism, may or may not, but it is not a proper way to fit the strap.

The 'push piece' on the underside Panerai lug uses a different bar, it's not a springbar at all.
