I think the D-blue has been semi-exclusive due to the size. It's definitely not a common Rolex like the Sub or DJ. This will help the market in the future.

I'm pretty excited myself because I will be collecting my D-Blue next month,it's kept in the vault for now.An unknown buyer whatsApp me last Thurs asking whether I was keen on off-loading the D Blue.Wait a minute ! WTF is going on here ? A )Who the Hell was this guy and how did he get my number? B )He first offered me an extra 4000 Msian Ringgit to give up the watch. When I messaged him back saying it was for my private collection and not for sale,he hit me with another figure.I didnt reply and quickly blocked his contact number. Jeezzzzz....

I believe 3 important events will increase the value of the D-Blue

♡ strong rumours continue to persist in Hong Kong Malaysia Singapore that the D Blue would be discontinued in 2018, some say before 2020

♡ The lockdown release of JC's Avatar's 4 epic movie franchise in Dec 2020/2021 /2024/2025.The meaning behind the colour schemes of the watch would be blurred, Sellers now hope to jack-up the price and cash-In.The dial does bear an uncanny resemblance to the features of the Na'vi people of Pandora. Illogical ?Na'vi Blue any0ne ?

How many here are familiar with Omega's highly prized vintage Jedi Seamasters, Anakin Skywalker and Darth Vader ?Those chronographs nicknames were coined by the late great Chuck Maddox but the funny thing was the Star Wars Movie franchise appeared a decade later !

♡ God Forbid It and I pray James Cameron remains healthy and lives to a 100 but if he dies, retail price will shoot through the roof !
Congrats on your new incoming d blue. Order the rubber b strap, make the watch much more wearable for smaller wrist. .. jen

I own both the black n the blue dial dssd. I too own rubber b all black, all blue, all white n black with blue line straps with rubber b's tang buckle.

Do avoid the all white n the all black strap. They are not flexible enough for smaller wrist.

All blue strap and black with blue line strap are very soft n comfortable.

Order with the tang buckle too. Don't use the original dssd clasp.

Good luck.

I don’t think modern Rolex as investment. There’re many different assets that can give you higher return.

Whos to say. A couple ADs i deal with have both had 3-4 LVs in since there last DSSD JC.

Bottomline. Both are not mainstream models like the black sub or black DSSD.

JCs will go up in value like the 16610lvs. Guaranteed.

Probably in some parts of the world to be fair. However we really have no idea what production will look like in 2018 however I am sure the 1st quarter of the year will show us where things will settle or where they are heading.

Congratulation on your new watch. I think you got the newer dial as well. I read it in a magazine in Japanese regarding the D-blue dial. D-blue after May 2017 has more blue on the top. The author were speculating if the pre may 2017 dial is descending into the deep part of the ocean and the newer dial is ascending up to the surface of the ocean.

There's def a US/World divide, I talked to TS in US and they could easily get a DB at a discount in the summer, here it has a £2K premium. I think supply was very different altho now that seems to be equalising so expect prices to rise there too.

Congrats, Nairn! I have a feeling this will be discoed next year in this very low supply climate.

Funny you say that, I had noticed that some have less blue than others. Mine certainly has more lighter blue than dark.

Interesting!!

Yes it looks great on the versatile Rubber B strap. I wouldn't ever buy a watch as an "investment" as I am not consumed by greed and avarice. I buy what I like.

Cokes and Pepsis were produced for decades in mass numbers. Are they collectible ? most definitely yes. They are a joy to proudly wear. The reason they command high premiums despite their abundance is because they are such a beautiful watch. I am never going to sell mine.

So it does not matter when or if Rolex stops producing them, it´s how much people want to wear it. Since it is bigger and very expensive it is for a narrower market. The Deep Blue will probably thus not ever be like a Coke or Pepsi.

Your right. It will be MORE sought after. Again. Think 16610LV. This is exactly how dblue will perform once discontinued. Not a matter of if but instead when. Matter of time.

First question i would ask is are you in the watch collecting business?
If not, buy what you want to wear

Hats off good sir. Well said.

Anything is collectable if there is enough market demand for it. If you want to follow history then collectable pieces are usually ones that no one wanted at first release (Paul Newman Dayton to SD4K).

Love it --> Buy it (if able) --> Wear it --> Enjoy it --> Repeat.

For deepsea either u go for normal deepsea with mark 1 dial or deepsea blue. These two will be much sought after if the entire deepsea is discontinued.

Tom Coll had two. A 2016 BNIB and a mid 2017 worn but mint. The 2017 dial was exactly like yours. The 2016 noticeably darker and less identifiable as a D Blue under lower light. There’s definitely been a change in dials at some point.
