To remove a permanent link or not--advice request!

I had a permanent link removed on my 16000, done at RSC NY. It is more centered for me. There is a slight step off due to skipping a tapered link, but it is barely noticeable. The link can also be put back on if needed (for a cost, of coarse). If you send it in, don't forget to send in one of your spare links to put on the other side.
