SD43 demanding Daytona C premiums?

DavidSW has the first SD43 listed for $18k on his website. Is it really going to demand that premium?

Don't think so but all David needs is ONE eager buyer who can't wait even weeks from AD and it'll get SOLD.

Wow that's nutty to pay that much of a premium. But somebody will do it.

Let hope this will not be another Daytona C fiasco. Watchfinder here in T.O, Canada recently sold a few white dial Daytona C for $26,500. The MSRP for the Daytona C here in Canada is only $14,250. There are fools out there willing to pay the premium to acquire these watch just for show and tell.

I doubt it'll be like the Daytona. Rolex historically has done this with the Daytona SS, but not there SS models.

I suspect the first few will sell at a high premium due to supply (initial runs are always lower as production ramps up).

I can't imagine this will be as limited as the Daytona C or even the D Blue. In the meantime i saw an english dealer hawk the idea that the red text will be short lived and that it will go to white in the next year or two. I honestly don't see that happening but the hype level thanks to the internet and geeks like us is impressive.

I hope Rolex release a steady supply of these world wide and then the being first/exclusivity premiums will soon fall to normal levels. I don't think they want another D500 situation which has gotten out of hand esp with AD treatment of customers.

Rolex should just give AD status to the grey sellers, that seems to be where the desirable pieces are sold anyways. Unless someone is a VIP, it doesn't appear a normal retail customer has a snowball's chance of acquiring anything desirable at an AD.

Patience needed is 1 day to 2 weeks. For someone it might be worth 8000 dollars.

does it feel different to daytona C, the initial supply on May 1st seems like easy for Rolex to flush into market.

wonder how supply will be in few months

The Daytona thing got everyone on their toes thinking Rolex is going to release 1 watch per month to major ADs now for all of their future new watches hah (yeah right). Let the initial hype play out for the SD43 and watch it go the same direction every sea dweller has gone in the past within a year IMO.

Let David sell for what he wants and I hope he gets it to be honest, once in awhile these sellers deserve a big break.

Easy supply and demand question imo. Close to no supply (all those that got their name on lists early seem to be keeping their watches) and if the number of SD43/50 threads on TRF are any indication plenty of demand. Let DavidSW start at 18k if it goes quick the next one might start at 20k, if he still has it next week maybe 17k. For all those who find it ridiculous, if your business was buying and selling watches where would you price the first one openly available in the US? If it weren't for his reputation I think he might have started higher. Like many have hinted here it only take one person with more money than time or more money than patience.

Let DSW sell watches for whatever he wants! Should he get mad at any of you Realtors for selling houses over the asking price!? Or should he get mad at any of you car dealers adding premiums to high-demand cars!?
