Sea-Dweller traded than Sea-Dweller bought (D-BLUE)

Good Evening Members!

If you have a moment to read my week's Rolex adventure kindly then thank you in advance!

So, in the beginning of the week I owned an 116600 SD4000. Great watch, loved that it now is the last of the 40MM no-cyclops SD's as we know it, but I just never felt a strong connection to it. With that being said, the market is much hotter for it than it was prior to Basel 2017. I got an itch on May 9th to test the market and was quite surprised as my "trade value" was the same as I paid new (well actually a bit better). Too make a long story short, I trade up to a 2 month old 116613LB "Bluesy" with a deal that made perfect sense to me (made the deal with a trusted seller here on TRF ). I had a touch of sellers remorse however.....

Today, 5/12, the nice FED EX man was kind enough to deliver my watch before 3PM. Opened it up with my co-worker and what a beauty the 116613LB is. Everything was perfect from the seller as usual with this probably being my 10th transaction in 2 years with him. The only thing that wasn't followed on my instructions was he failed to remove 2 links as requested, no big deal as I would stop by my AD on the way home.

I arrived at my AD and kindly requested some links to be taken out and he whipped out the Rolex tool kit and a small bottle of loctite. Fitted and done! I wanted to pay them for the service but they refused payment; great service as always from them.

Now I know they've had a Deepsea Sea-Dweller D-BLUE displayed for a few weeks in the case. It's caught my eye in the past and I just thought it was too thick but my now lack of a Sea-Dweller made me desire it that much more. I've tried it on a few times since 2016 and just thought it was so big.

I started talking to the manager whom I had worked deals with before and I was out the door with a deal too good to pass up on. After 1 hour I got over how much bigger it is than my other sport models. It's built big for a reason, not just for style. It's a tool watch first and I feel comforted knowing that I can now go almost 2.5 miles beneath the sea and still be able to tell time .

Here it is (sorry I don't know how to rotate the photo), what another beauty....thanks for reading!

Wonderful move !

This DSSD is a unique extreme machine... And the color (the blue but the yellowish green letters too) is a very good thing: that is the color that makes me love my LV everyday more. You will never get bored of it.

Seems like the AD made out quite well on that bracelet adjustment. More seriously, two great incomings! The D-blue looks great in you.

Thanks everyone !

Yup the bluesy is a keeper and it's incoming was overshadowed by my strategic Deep sea impulse buy.

I have no idea how you scored a D Blue just sitting there in an AD's case.

I think the D Blue is second only to a SS Daytona in difficulty in buying not on the gray market.

Congrats on your new wrist candy.

LOVE the D Blue but haven't had the guts to go that big. I used to have a ROO and it was no prob but somehow the DSSD intimidates me. Great story and CONGRATS!!!

Thanks again all for the compliments and well wishes!

It's been such an adventure over the past couple years "fine tuning" my collection. I appreciate everything in my collection from the revamped 214270 Explorer I to my first Daytona purchased in 2016 (the highly sought 116500LN - Black Dial) and now this beast of a watch Deepsea D-BLUE.

Still have unfinished business however. I'm aiming for a white dial 116500LN only via my AD('s).

I think if you're going to replace the SD4K, the D-Blue is a good choice. Congrats!

1st pic after the Bluesy came unsized. 2nd pic after I unexpectedly made the Deepsea purchase a few hours later. 3rd pic both of them together last night. 4th pic of the Deepsea hovering over my BLNR and "Hulk". Enjoy !
