I would be appreciative of any recommmendations for good servicers in the Chicago area? Also, some of you have mentioned sending your watch to Switzerland. How do you do that? Thanks for the help!

See a PM from me to you this morning about another Internet forum where members often did this a few years ago. I ran a detailed search of that forum looking for a thread with comprehensive info, but I gave up before I found one like that (there are bunches of discussions that come up when searching on the terms "Bienne Service").

I believe you may send your watch to Bienne just as you would to an Authorized Service Center in the USA, but with the additional complexity of customs forms that the Service Center in Bienne needs you to include in order to facilitate returning the watch to you after the service is completed. Also, people doing this a few years ago seemed to have difficulty purchasing adequate insurance coverage, but if you're using Parcel Pro then that shouldn't be an issue.

I recommend sending email to Bienne to ask them which customs forms are required.

How old is the watch that is to be serviced? If it's considered "vintage" under Omega's definition and an Omega Service Center in the US receives it for service, then the US Service Center will forward it to Bienne on your behalf to have the work done by Omega's specialists there who service vintage Omega watches.

If it's not vintage under Omega's definition, and if you decide to let an Omega Service Center in the US work on it, then I believe the center in Seattle, WA is reputed to provide quality service with consistency (in fact, Secaucus, NJ also has this reputation lately).

Burdeens in Buffalo Grove is an AD. I have not taken anything to them yet so I'm not recommending them. Howerver, they do have very good reviews on line.

I plan to get my Seamaster serviced through them but haven't had the time yet.
