Is the Expl II polar 16570 a sleeper?

I had a polar and let it go.. I do miss it though! I especially loved the black hands and indices.

I have a late 90’s Black tritium dial now which is gorgeous and overall I do prefer it over the polar. I won’t make another mistake and let this one go! I just might go for a polar again someday, would be a fun pair to own;)

Wow, the bezel on that one looks great. I need to find another bezel for mine, the edges are all nicked up.

I seldom worn this watch although I bought in back in 2010. It is still very new or in an immaculate condition except for some hairline scratches on the buckle/clasp.



May I add that my is the “G” series with the 3186 movement which is the last batch before they changed it to the 216570/42MM 3187 movement. Among my few Rolex watches, i am so impressed with this (ironically) watch’s accuracy. It performed less than +1 SPD.

According to this website, your “M” series is produced up till August 2007. M series is very popular for the 14060 Submariner no date.

IMO I'd agree it's a sleeper....don't let the secret out. A lot of watch for the money and is the polar choice for me versus the 6 digit Explorer (the black is the clear winner for me on 6 digits).

I think the Explorer model from Rolex is beautiful and I like to collect them.

The 16570 is bargain at the moment since collectors focus on the submariner or Gmt. I love them especially the oldest one :)

They are, just not at the crazy rate the GMTs have in the same time period.

I don't mind either, I didn't purchase mine expecting it to be some sort of investment. It's just a watch, a good one at that and I'm glad there's still one sport reference that's relatively affordable.

I wear my polar most of the time as my daily. Wears a little lighter than my Sub. I think the 40mm Explorer II’s popularity has increased a lot in the last two years and will continue.

This is was the first Rolex I fell in love with and will be my next purchase, definitely have noticed prices creeping upwards though
