killing me!

this is a horribly enabling thread!

was convinced the 15400 blue dial was the one, now these photos r killing me.

going to stop by boutique next week to hopefully compare 202 and 400 side by side.

for those who may have had or seen both (in blue) does the 202's dial sparkle the way the 400 does?
aside from the additional heft, which i do like, the way the blue dial of the 400 glimmers in light is what hooked me.

now if the 202 shines the same way, god help me!

When I need 'eye candy' on the TRF, this is the thread of choice!

Full disclosure: I don't own one but 15202ST is on my serious wish list! I had a dalliance with wanting the Daytona C in a past thread here on the AP forum but have since abandoned the idea. Will be sure to post the incoming but it may be a while! In the meantime I'll remain an onlooker on the AP forum, which is a lot of fun too!

I'm waiting for my 15202 already paid a deposit. 202 I've seen in RG. RG 15202 dial doesn't shine the same way as 15400. It's a bit darker than 400. 15400 Blue dial is stunning no doubt.

What a great dial, how did you manage to get the 5402 dial? Does AP retrofits new 15202s with vintage service dials on request ? thanks!

This is a great thread. I was leaning towards a Patek 5711 as my next watch to complement my silver 15400 but I'd rather go with the 15202 instead.

Not quite sure what you mean by "sparkle" but the blue in 15400 and 15202 is very different. For a start, the tappiserie pattern is different as the former is the grand tappiserie while the latter is the petite tappiserie. So in the 15202, you actually have a more intense, deeper, richer blue. Again, both dials changes color tones very rapidly depending on surrounding light.

For me, between the two, no contest. The 15202 wins hands down. Hope this helps.

Actually it's the opposite I think. I held in the boutique both side by side, the 15400 definitely had a more vibrant blue in the boutique lighting while the 15202 was muted.

But the thinness and the movement of the 15202 is why I would pick it any day over the 15400.

I'd go black for 15400. I really wish the 15202 came in black or the same blue as the 15400. The 15202 blue is kinda blah. At least in that lighting. Maybe out in the sun it's different because I see pictures of it being so vibrant. But in person it didn't look like that at all.

No you are incorrect. I own both and the 15202 blue is definitely the more intense richer blue. You have to see it in natural light and not boutique lighting. A lot of my shots in this thread testify to this. As to which is nicer, it's entirely subjective of course and matter of personal taste.

As others have said, great thread and some awesome pics. I'm ready to pull the trigger on my very first AP soon and would love to acquire a 15202 but worry that it may look too small on my 7.5" wrist. I know the Daytona did. I'll be in Vegas next week and plan to find an AP AD and try on both the 202 and the larger 400. Thanks guys!
