Favorite Day Date 40 - Several years in

Although like anything Rolex related, the DD40 was unveiled 2.5 years ago to mixed reviews, it has quickly become a modern classic IMO.

What does the forum think is the most popular/sought after version of the DD40.

Originally, i noticed Rolex marketing the YG - Champagne dial but lately it has been the RG - Olive dial that I've been noticing most (maybe because I own it :smoking:)

Thank you.

I think these are the most popular dd40s, in no order

1. RG - Olive
2. RG - Choco
3. WG - Blue
4. YG - Champagne
5. YG - Silver
6. PT - Motif

Awesome lineup

I’m biased to my favorite, wg olive. I also wouldn’t mind the blue wg, rarely seen black dial wg

In other metals / rg Choco motif

The olive and rose gold is a beauty. But once I saw the black dial WG that changed my mind. It's a stunner of a watch! Oh well one day, maybe....

Thanks, seems the WG Olive is more popular on the forums than other places.

Never seen the WG black dial in person.

Best selling is probably YG, maybe silver just over champagne in this day and age.

Doubt that the silver outsells the champagne dial in YG. The Asian markets buy up the YG - Champ like crazy according to my watch dealer friend.

Yellow gold with gold or white dial maybe? In western parts of the world white gold and platinum are thought as more discreet.

For pretty darn good reason IMO. That olive green dial is just so catchy and sublime in different lighting. Rose or white gold are winners just depends on preference and skin tone contrast.

If I were to own a DD the DD41 is the one I would have. The DDII I always thought looked too chunky and the 36mm was always a bit small for my taste. This one hit the sweet spot, if I were to obtain one it would be the Ice/Plat version. I really like yours though and great collection as well.

Both the WG and RG with anniversary green dial are knockouts. Slight edge to the RG for me.

Btw, I still dwell on adding a YG dd40 to the stable.

Not sure how popular YG with black dial is but I LOVE mine!! WG with blue dial is my next favorite I hope to acquire in a few years.
