GMT Master 2 16700 or 16710
Hi guys,
I've got an itch for a Pepsi GMT but not sure if I should be looking for a 16700 series or 16710. I realise that the later model has the independent hour hand giving the option for 3 time zones but are there other considerations? Do people prefer one over the other and if so why? Unless a ceramic model is due to be launched I'm going to look at pre-loved. Many thanks Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I prefer the 16700 as it is easier to change date due to quick set. And I think the quality of 16700 is smaller than the 16710.

I prefer the 16710 because I'm not a pepsi fan - I like coke!

The 116710 does have a ceramic insert; are those out of the question?
Regardless I'd vote 16700. Quickset date! Plus I never bought into the "third time zone" because there are no 24h markings on the dial or chapter ring; imho they all track two time zones. Sent from my 0PM92 using Tapatalk |

I like the jump-hour feature on the newer 3185 movement so 16710 for me.

I didn't really gave it a thought before I got my first Gmt nor did I asked for any opinions in here either...it was the price that speaks the loudest to me and I got the 16700 for a what to me was a much much better deal than the 16710 (about $700 usd diff between the two) and mine is one of the last Master with the "SWISS" only dial.
And I am with those gentlemen who appreciates the quick set date (having couple of watches in rotation, the quickset date is a very very welcoming feature) plus the third time zone feature on the 16710 is to calculate a third time zone temporarily before setting it back to the tracked second time zone. Both are great anyways...it's purely personal preference base on prices or features... |

Incidentally, from the title......the 16700 is just a GMT Master and not a GMT Master II. I like both and have both. IMHO, if part of a larger collection, then 16700. If worn daily, 16710.
JMHO.

Visually you can't tell the difference between a 16700 or a 16710 from the same era (they were sold side-by-side for a decade) except for the II on the dial. If you don't feel a need for the jump hour hand, either is a fine time-piece. I have several of both and the 16700 black sees a lot of wrist time..

Thanks for all the input, and for correcting me where necessary. It's likely to be a weekend watch in rotation with a number of others including a LV, Daytona, Speedmaster, a couple of Tags. I don't flip my watches but expect them to hold their value as much as possible so not sure if either the GMT or GMT2 are any better or worse in that respect. I've been offered a 16700 but I think it's had a bezel swap from a black to Pepsi.

16700, Quickset makes a difference when rotating watches, as stated before.

16700 for me. Quick set date and I can track as many times as I want using the bezel. Just give it a turn.

My choice between the two would be the GMT-MASTER 16700 model.

16700 for the quick set and the dial just looks perfect without the "II".

The 16700 is the last of the GMT Masters.
Definitely one of my favorites..
