Melbourne horologist with Rolex account.
I recently picked up my 1655 after leaving it with Rory MacDonald in Fairfield, Melbourne for a service. This watch had been significantly 'used' and there was a great deal of internal wear and tear.
I was impressed with his professionalism. And I am happy to recommend his services to other Rolex owners. |

Nothing cosmetic done apart from the new plexi and stabilising some cracking on the lume on the hands. The work was mostly internal. This watch belonged to my father. Prior to being sent to Rory, it had only been serviced twice since 1973.

How can he have a Rolex account? Rolex Australia have won a legal arouse whereby only they have access to genuine Rolex parts.

If he's a CW21 he would probably get the parts from them?

I spoke to Rory a while back and I don't think he works on modern Rolex models.
Just a heads up.

A sign that he's not Rolex authorized. ^

Popped up to Fairfield and had a chat with Rory not too long ago. Nice chap.
He's had RSC experience but has "been out of the R loop for over a decade" (his words). He does not have a Rolex oz parts account. He says he keeps parts stash for servicing some older popular models or can source them from his network. Still works on them regularly for his client base. He prefers not to service any latemodel Rs, definitely nothing after 1990. Go RSC he says, would be cheaper than him trying to source new R parts independently. He would love you if you turned up with a 100yo English pocket watch needing work Coffee from cornershop next door ain't bad either! enjoyed a decent milk drink |
