I would say buy what you like and can afford. Insure it and wear it. Simple formula, repeat, etc.

Buy it to wear, or don't buy it.

Just use good sense both in surroundings and activities and have it insured. I would say you are as likely to get mugged with a steel Rolex as with a Gold of any colour as they are quicker to move if they are targeting you for your watch. In my mind it is all theirs I am not going to lose my life for a watch when the insurance company will buy me a new one.

Ditto. Wear it, enjoy it, insure it.

The odds of "losing it" are slim unless you are just incredibly careless. Don't take it off, and it won't get lost.

I only worry about these things at the gym, and so now I just wear my watch while working out. It may look a bit stupid, but I'd rather risk a scratch than someone breaking into my locker or my car (depending on where it is) while I'm busy.

And yes, I've had both types of break-ins before, so I speak from experience.

Energy is very interesting argument. As shine, technology, longevity, trustability of DD40 and heft already make it exceptional watch. Adding energy gives nice thoughts!

As long as it is insured. It's such an easy process to do and leaves you with less to worry about

I do wear the 116619 more daily than any of my other watches. Surprisingly it is up to the task, you can wear it daily

Insurance is a must. You'd be kicking yourself for not doing so if it were to get lost or stolen.

If going to spend that much dough I'd prefer something that stands out from the SS crowd a bit. However, if you want to fly under the radar then WG is a better option than RG or YG.

I find this a bit humorous. Don't many, many people wear a Day-Date every single day? Or was it just Jack Nicklaus and my father-in-law?

I wear my Daytona every day. I'd rather enjoy it and get a couple of light scratches on the bracelet than just enjoy seeing it in a watch box with all its buddies. It's almost a year of daily wearing the Daytona and most folks would not say it's been ruined.

Does no one else ever get this feeling? Every time i wear my DD36 i get this energy from the gold i believe. Even when i wear my AP which is around the same price but its SS. I don't get the same energy.

X2. Yellow gold is more subtle than you may think. Those of us who wear them know this. Nobody notices my PM pieces and frankly nobody cares. Just a watch.

I daily wear a wg gmt. I’m a professional desk diver so I’m not too rough with it. If you want to avoid losing it, keep it on your wrist. I’ve had friends lose watches when they have to take it off for work or when at the gym. Now here is the 25k question- are you ok with scratches? It will scratch more than ss. Some here want a box fresh look to their watches- if you daily a pm or any watch for that matter you will pick up scratches.

If you spend that much money you better get your money’s worth- better wear it daily

I don't think most will even recognize it as a Rolex. Rolex is typically associated with the black bezel on the Sub. The watch will attract gazes, but most won't know what it is until you tell them or they look at the dial. Then they'll think it's a stainless model.

Personally, if I were to ever buy a PM model, this Smurf model is the only one I'd buy.

25K+ Smurf 116619LB for every day wear?

I wear my blro daily, in my office and in the factory. On day 3 I got my first scratch from working on a machine, I just touched my watch on a steel surface and it left a mark! I was really annoyed that it marked so easily. The pcl's mark very easy. By week 3 the underside of the bracelet had a scruffy swirly patina. Week 5 now and it's "worn for in". I don't care much anymore, I accept that it is marked and I know that it will mark more going forward. The wife says I shouldn't wear it to work, particularly in the factory. It's my factory that enabled me to buy it. The factory giveth and the factory taketh (the shiny pcls) away. I love it more each day.

I like the notion of jeans and t shirt and what looks to most people like just a blue plain submariner. Of course, I wonder if I'd be so nervous to lose it or scratch it that I might not actually wear it daily.

Your thoughts?
I wore one at least 5 days a week for almost a year. NO WORRIES

Why not it’s your watch. You never have to worry about white gold from Rolex as it will never have the yellow come out because of the alloys. if you have it next to a stainless model you can see the color difference. John Mayer wears one doing everything it can hang with Daily wear

In my opinion it could definitely be a daily wear watch. Your average person would just think it's Stainless Steel anyways.

If you insure then you only need to worry about one thing: Are YOU comfortable with it. Some people have the same hesitation over a $2500 watch, even a $250 watch can have the same ‘risk value’ to someone of lesser means. Some people are comfortable wearing a $1000 article of clothing and some people are not. This is an intimate decision with variables only relevant to the wearer. Perspective and circumstance will dictate your comfort level. My Daytona is by no means a rare or priceless timepiece and I am comfortable wearing it for anything and everything. I also get flack from people with scratch OCD. Again a matter of perspective and circumstance. We buy things to enjoy them. Buy what you can enjoy without worry.

I bought my wife a beautiful engagement ring but it has diamonds and I don't want her to wear it as she might lose it or hurt its value. Why would anyone take this approach to a watch. I've yet to see a lady be afraid to wear her engagement ring.
