I have a black sub c date and can get a Daytona c.

not really - besides having black as the common color they are very different watches
1) sub - rotating bezel, brushed bracelet
2) daytona - chrono pushers, subdials, PCL

Not even close to each other; Sub shiny bezel due to widely spaced print and open area, not to mention squared bezel and cyclops. Daytona has tapered bezel with a lot of print with three sub dials and no cyclops (or date for that matter). Daytona also has pcls as previously mentioned.

For me the black on black felt really similar so even tho I was more attracted to the black dial initially, white would be my choice now, but if white is not for you then ofc both can live together.

Not too similar IMO, but I'm not the expert on similarity here.

Two entirely different watches...they’d make a great pair!

Black dial Daytona would be my preference no matter what other watches I have.

I think black Subs and Black Sea Dwellers look really similar. Subs and Daytonas not so much. But you could obviously make them more different by having one dial not to black.

I wouldn't have a problem with black sub and black daytona, they look different enough.

Basically....yes.
But what counts is when you look at your wrist, will you be happy? Most of us here are die hard watch fanatics! So most of us will agree that they are both excellent pieces, and go great as your only two, or part of a bigger collection.

Perfect contrast. If you needed a dress watch, say a DD or added a explorer/GMT the foundations are there for a epic collection. If you only want 2 watches/service fees Maybe strap the SUB, just to break it up.Or buy a hulk. Or sell the Daytona as there fetching good coin then step up to a PM Daytona on a strap with ceramic bezel.

Get the black Daytona for all of the sympathy you will receive. Possible advantages are people giving you the right of way at 4-way stops, letting you cut in line at amusement parks and bartenders giving you free drinks. It's good to be one of the poor souls having to suffer living with a black dialed Daytona.

Seriously, get what you like and don't look back!

Someone who* can't see a single difference between those two references is most likely someone who also uses their iPhone X to call people for turn-by-turn directions. I would not associate with those particular people. I would LOVE both.

I think they wear differently enough that I wouldn’t worry if you like the black version. I have a black sub and will get a black Daytona if I ever get the call.

These are of course both gorgeous, but with the black dial AND black bezel, from 5 feet away most of the population would think it's the same watch. Now, I say that, knowing full well that I am right, because 99% of the global population wouldn't know the difference between a swatch and Rolex even from up close.

If that influences your purchase decision then the watch is not for you.

not a lot wrong with that pair for me. Love the black Daytona. If I was desperate for colour, I'd go for colour on the sub....

I think the sub pairs up really well with the Daytona, no matter the dial color.

Both can make great pair in collection and I don't see there is any issue. In fact I believe many of forum members own both on their collection
