I am not sure in what context the DJ41 is looked down upon? My fluted bezel on jubilee bracelet was more expensive than the SS SubC date I bought last month. My other DJ41 with smooth bezel on oyster is about $1k less than the SubC date.

Perhaps, the DJs are available in so many permutations and combinations, that we think of them as common commodity model compared to the SS sports models.

It is the most popular lineup, but the SS sports models take all of the glory nowadays.

My thoughts exactly.
I own a 16014 which I bought last year and like it that much , I`m currently in the hunt for a 16013 with an oyster bracelet. (In case some of the members might sell one, do not hesitate to contact me).

I am literally in love with 5-digit DJs and have no attention whatsoever for any of the sport-models.

I love them,,
Have a 16013,,dj2 ( now moved on),, recently traded my brand new before Xmas dj 36mm and will be collecting my new Dj 36mm ,blue dial with fluted on jubilee on Sunday or Monday,,,
I had the 36 and 41 side by side but went for the 36mm ,, proportions better and dial with no numerals and the fit sealed it,,
Both gorgeous pieces but 36mm cos I love that size,
Never felt any Dj is looked down upon ,,,

I visited an AD last weekend with my wife and a tried on a Datejust with silver dial and romans in diamond. Stunning piece, does anyone know the reference? I didn’t note it and now can’t find it in the catalog! I tried a few Daydates, the Cellini Moonphase but that Datejust was the only one to get the thumbs up from both of us.

They are certainly not looked down upon by ADs, who love them and fill their stores with them, it's the sports ones they are embarrassed of and hide out the back.

Yes,,,
Classic Porsche’s like the 911 2.7 RS, 928 GtS, 944 turbo , almost forgot the humble lol 3.2 911 with G50 or 915 gearbox,,,
These are the Djs,,,

Oh! How times have changed , a nice 944 turbo or S2 fetch more money then many 996s and a good few 997,,,
Watch out for the ims and rms though on those 911 models,,
Catastrophic engine failure is never a good thing,,,

Is everyone forgetting the DJ is not the entry level of the line in Rolex? Isnt the AK the entry level model?

I have a submariner, CHNR, and the new DJ36. DJ36 is the most comfortable to wear and it looks awesome.

What constitutes an entry level? Price?

No Rolex is looked down upon. Just personal preference. DJs are very popular in the Asian market. It’s a great classic Rolex in any metal.

The only criticism I can make of the DJ, same can be said of another iconic watch Omega Speedmaster, is the bewildering array of variations.
That said in its simplest form, smooth bezel, oyster, stainless it’s a slightly posher OP with a date nothing whatsoever wrong with that
In “traditional” mode, fluted on jubilee it’s on a par with the Sub for most recognisable Rolex out there, personal choice, ss, tt or pm
It’s pretty much bullet proof, was the first watch to automatically change the date at midnight, came into the world in 1945, millions sold, has 100 metres water resistance and comfortable to wear as a daily and made by the most recognisable brand name in the world.
Let the haters hate, this is one great reference

The Datejust is a timeless, iconic, classic. By any measure.

I love my Sub but I wear and trust the DJ41 5 days a week because I need the date when I’m signing documents at court and in the office.

Tell you what, if the DJ41 blue dial was readily available at the AD, I'd probably take one home. The fact there's a waitlist (or whatever bulls***) really puts me off. I've spent the cash on another brand instead in my latest shopping spree. We'll see what happens next time I'm in the market for a watch.

I can see what you’re saying.

Also recall that Rolex is the boxster of luxury watches ;)

That’s why I wear what I like, whether it is entry level or not, because to a certain extent, A LOT of things are “entry level.”

The Blue is hard to find available. I just got one the other day. Although I love this version also.

What's the story with this Dial ? I notice you can no longer configure it. I like the black deal with roman .
