Datejust 41 two tone

Anyone have suggestions for first Rolex purchase?
I came across this Rose gold steel two tone Datejust 41 from a local AD, oyster bracelet, chocolate dial. I'm looking to get my first Rolex, is this a good piece to own first? Is this model rare and retain value?

I have always wanted to own a rolex, and wanted to start building relationship with AD. But I want to make sure every piece I own retains value, so that I'm not just throwing money away to get on waitlists for other popular Rolex watches.

Any comments?

The fact that you are so focused on the investment value and future popularity suggests that your motivation for ownership lacks any horological element. I suggest you buy Bit-Coins and Invicta's instead.

I got this model (fluted). An amazing piece.

I can't say for sure it will hold value but I can say it will be a piece you won't regret getting - if you are a watch enthusiast that is.

I have this model on a jubilee with fluted bezel. It’s a gorgeous piece, and the rose gold is more subtle than yellow. I have another Rolex that’s a TT with yellow gold, and this chocolate model is more subdued, but strikingly beautiful nonetheless. As for value, it’s probably not going to retain much, but if you like it, buy it.

all Rolexes retain their value, imo, if the owner takes care of them. I seriously looked at the rose gold, but went with old fashioned YG.

Welcome to TRF sir and the hunt is the best part.
