Grand Seiko - Heritage Japan Seasons (Summer)

I thought I would share this beauty which is part of the Grand Seiko Heritage Japan Seasons collection. I acquired the summer season version SBGH271. My pictures fall far below what this looks like in person. The deep lush green colored dial with gold indices, razor pointed hands, combined with the polished case and bracelet makes for a stunningly beautiful unorthodox looking watch. Literally it is artwork. To top it off it is powered by Grand Seiko caliber 9S85 36,000 BPM movement. The seconds just glides as it moves.

All in all a very cool offering from Grand Seiko.

What made you choose this season over the other seasons?

The dial is incredible. It ranges from a black. To a greenish Grey reminiscent of the ocean. And again to brilliant golden green. I am loving mine. Pictures hardly do the dial justice.

Two of the seasons (Winter and Spring) are offered with the Spring Drive caliber. I wanted the 36000 BPM traditional automatic so that left me with either autumn or summer. Autumn is a beautiful blue color but I already have a blue colored watch (Omega Globemaster) and green is something you don't see everyday. That's why I chose summer.

I stood in the store for about 20 minutes deciding between the Summer and the Fall. Blue is dynamic. But not not as iridescent as the Green. The Green just sucks you in completely. The gold markers also make it a dressier watch in some ways. Which is fine with me.

I wanted to try a spring drive. Not in love with titanium as it’s too light for my tastes. And, like I said the Green is really special.

I completely understand, and I would have struggled with the choice a bit longer if I did not have the blue Globemaster. I agree with you, this green so deep and lush with the gold markers pulls you in. Blue watches are very popular, green not so much and that also was appealing.

Absolutely beautiful watch. My favorite in the seasons collection. Being fully mechanical is the icing on the cake for me.

It was between this and the Spring for me. I really love that green dial but the pink won me over. I changed the bracelet to a dark brown leather strap it works really nicely with the pink.
Your photos show an interesting shade of the green. Beautfiul watch!

I don’t want to hijack OPs thread but guess I guess it’s relevant.
First photo with the croc strap is not mine, that’s a pic I found online.
Second photo is mine. I couldn’t find a better picture but hopefully it gives you an idea. It’s a weird angle and it makes the watch look huge but it’s not even for my skinny wrists.

At the risk of getting flamed, I think Grand Seiko has the best dials! I would love to add one to my collection!

Many of us in here will agree with you. Just be careful what you say in front of Rolex fanboys. Some of them are sensitive and saying something is better than a Rolex is a sign of betrayal and disloyalty.

Nonsense - very relevant. Thank you for sharing. The dials (all seasons) are art work coupled with some of the finest horology offered today.

Where did you get your strap and what type of buckle or clasp are you using? I’m very interested in putting a strap on mine.

I just got it from my watchmaker. It’s nothing special with just a regular buckle. I can take better pics later if you’re interested in seeing details.
