126529 vs 5980/1R.

Just a quick question:

Between the LM Daytona (126529) vs the 5980/1R, which would be your preference. I’m considering a full PM watch and looking into these two.

The 5980 is the better watch, but I’d personally wear the LM Daytona more.

PP 5980/1R is a lot more expensive than Rolex LM Daytona (126529), if you can get this PP at msrp, better go for it.

For me, the Daytona is much more wearable given my lifestyle.

I prefer the LM Daytona. I wear my white gold pieces much more than colored gold, and my wrist is too small for the thicker Nautiluses. It'd be a much tougher decision if it were the 5712/1R.

No contest the 5980, by a mile.

Thanks for the replies. Seems like it is pretty even overall. Will see which one the AD is willing to allocate me. Might have to sell the AP to fund the difference between the LM and the 5980.

This refreshed Daytona with this dial is a way better looking watch imho.
In the quality department it is probably twice as sturdy and more reliable than a 5980.

It will be an instant collectable and extremely hard to get.

For me I prefer the all rounder, so it's going to be the Daytona.

The 5980 is beautiful, however having seen the LMD in the metal, at retail, its a no brainer for me, LM all day every day. Rolex have hit it out the park and some.

The Patek is twice the price assuming retail purchase of each, and its not twice the watch.
