Let’s be honest, I have been around here long before I decided to become a member. Back then when Rolex references were plentiful a great number of members flipped out of one Rolex and back into another while even losing a little money. They were honest about it, felt unjudged and open to post about it. It was their money and their business what they did with it.

Now that things have changed and watches are scarce Gray dealers are lauded but members who now flip for profit to move to a new watch are looked down on and sometimes ridiculed. There is an awful lot of complaining and negative or insulting posts around here lately about everything.

If one buys to hold and enjoy or to flip it’s still a hobby about watches and I have done both. Whether it’s the grays, AD’s or individuals we are all culpable of the current climate...live and let live! JAT

The folks who buy DJs and PM buy them to keep. Nothing to flip on those pieces except for a loss.

I’m not a flipper, but this isn’t universally true. I bought my platinum Daytona brand new, and I could make $5k-10k right now, even selling it as a used piece.

I bought mine to keep, but it is reassuring to know that they retain value.

I don't know the answer but I believe it's more than one.

But we merely look after it for the next generation.

Wait, wrong brand.

No question that for some, buying a hot Rolex model is not about the love or wearing it, but about making a quick profit. That is making it tough for those that want to buy to wear and enjoy.

I currently own two "hot" Rolex models, the BLNR and the white Daytona C. it's nice to know that I purchased two watches that are worth more than I paid, but it my enjoyment comes from the fact that I like the watches and want to wear them. Not the fact they are worth more.

I buy them so I can worry about wearing them. I like to drive to the bank and visit my safety deposit box so that was another reason. I enjoy fussing and stressing over wear and tear on trinkets so I just love pcls. As a Cape Cod stockholder - win win. All my material things are purchased based on what other’s think. In fact, I will be downgraded at work soon since I can’t think for myself. Lucky for me I have this forum to tell me which watches I should like and buy so I got that going for me which is nice.

People actually buy these to wear and keep?
