Just a Sub

Had a whole long post written but there’s really no way to do that without coming across as a pretentious windbag. This is my Submariner, it’s special to me, and it’s the watch I wear the most. It’s derided by some as boring, ubiquitous, sterile. However in any realm designs have to start somewhere and this one has dominated for nearly 70 years. It has also spawned more than it’s fair share of great watches as offspring. Anyway, I share my Submariner. Shout out to the New York Yankees of watches.

Best watch ever. Love your post right up to the New York Yankees comment, then you lost me.

Submariner Date is my daily and it's been around the world, has surfed the waves of many countries and visited more boardrooms than I can count.

I love many more complex watches, but this is the only one that can withstand my lifestyle and not get in the way.

Recently bought an Explorer 124270 which actually fits my skinny wrist better than my 114060, so I’ve considered selling the Sub, but whenever I put it back on, I like it SO much, I don’t think I can do it.

well said OP! I'm kind of partial to the "boring" looking sub as well. One of these I wear the most. But being on TRF Iv'e been motivated to rotate in some of the others too. But the iconic sub look draws me back eventually

I mean its the quin-essential Rolex (even more so than gmt master). There's a reason why EVERY brand now tries to look like a Rolex sub. I have couple of friends who own sub as a daily for over 15 years. For a lot of non WIS folks, this is easily a one and done model.

As a qualified US Navy submariner i appreciate the simple and straight forward look of the submariner. Our submarine's are black and boring and straight forward as you describe in your post!
I sold my last sub 7 years ago and purchased a deep sea but found myself constantly banging it on everything. So back to the 116610 for me.
