Upgrade to the Deep Blue?

So here I am staring at my purchased new minty Deep Sea black dial...great watch. But I am struggling with the desire to trade it in or upgrade if you will to the new Deep Blue model. Any others either do this or wanting to and haven't? What are the pros and cons from the members here?

Only you know the answer.

I prefer the black dial so my suggestion would be to keep it.

The next person may prefer the blue black dial.

I've always loved the look of classic black Subs and SeaDwellers. I think it just depends on which dial color sings to you.

Keep the present one, if they had made a really blue dial I might have gone for it, but I saw it in real and was very disappointed, there's hardly any blue, it's more expensive, so really don't see the point...

I wouldn't call a dial color an upgrade.

I think the James Cameron dial is a tad gimmicky. Your watch is quite versatile.

I wouldn't do it, as I don't consider a different dial color an upgrade. Keep the one you have and enjoy it.

Don't know how much bang for the buck you'd get with that move.

You need to decide for yourself, but one dial color vs. another dial color is hardly an "upgrade".

If you would feel better personally with the D-Blue, get it..

The same thing occurred to me but I decided against it. The black is nicer looking and more suited to a rugged dive watch.

I switched it up from the black dial. Yeah, initially I was pretty down on the D-Blue, but when I finally handled one I person I couldn't get that damn dial out of my mind:

(The old and the new together...)

Pictures really don't do it justice. Not one bit; those who have actually had one on their wrist know exactly what I'm talking about:

(There can be only one... Simply because I can't afford to keep both.)

Is it an "upgrade"? Hardly, but with that said, I can't seem to take the damn thing off my wrist. ;-)

Regards,
Adam

The D blue is what convinced me to get a DSSD. I never really desired it until the release of the D blue, which "sang to me". Sounds like you may desire it more as well. Personal preference, so go compare the two in person and good luck.

You have to see the Deep Blue in person. It is stunning. If it doesn't immediately grab you, go black dial.

+1. You need to figure if it's worth several thousand or more.

Having a new all black DSSD sometimes I ask myself the same question. I like the Cameron dial, but I find the black one really nice as well and therefore am not going to change it, each time I wear it it makes me happy. That's all it need to do

I do typically prefer the classy black dials, but for such an "uber" model as the DSSD, I feel that the blue dial brings that special and "joyful" touch that you can't get anywhere else in the Rolex lineup.
I do not think that my wrist could handle this massive piece, but if I would get one, I would surely pick the "Green Sub".

Not an upgrade but simply a preference...I prefer the black dial, others the D Blue. Thats the beauty of Rolex.

I find the D Blue dial a little gimmicky. Thats only my opinion of course. I'm glad they 2 dials and perhaps more in the future.

If I were to own a DSSD, I'd want it to be the blue. Really like the look and appreciate what it stands for.
