Platinum Daytona purchase tomorrow!

I am going with my checkbook tomorrow, but will not pick up the watch until Saturday or Monday. My wife wanted to have it engraved; I was not strong enough to say no as long as I can get my hands on the watch. The weather in our part of Florida sucks this week, so I am obsessing...maybe I'll bring home the brochures and tags to play with...

Engraving it? No no no. Are you passing it down? I know some things will remain sentimental for years but it just destroys resale value completely.

CONGRATS! I strongly advise against the engraving. But if you plan on passing it down and keeping it for life then hey! Why not!? Just something to consider

Can't wait for the pics!

NO to engraving. Will cut the value immensely. Otherwise, congrats.

Man, I would sure try to find a way to avoid engraving. Can you get a silver bracelet and have it engraved, or something else?

My ex wife engraved a watch she gave me when we got married in 1980. Fortunately it was only a seiko dress watch. Cartier look alike. Don't engrave a Rolex.

I will tell the wife the value of my watch will nosedive. Great advice, gentlemen. I was not fond of the idea anyway.

It's going to nose dive as soon as the warranty card gets filled out. Once it turns used it will only be worth 58k or maybe less. So why not engrave the back plate? It can always be replaced.

You could get a stainless case back to engrave and keep the original to the side.

Then everyone gets what they want :)

Amazing piece!

Wow, epic purchase. Good luck, leave it as is so you get it sooner! It's a bad idea anyway in my opinion.
