Another What would you do.

I need some advice on what to do. I currently have a GMT II C, a Panerai, and a few less expensive kick around watches. I spend my time off coaching my daughters soccer team. I feel like the GMT and the Pam are too "nice" to use for soccer. I always end up putting one of my Tissot rubber strap watches. My goal is to have a Rolex I can use for anything and one I can use to dress it up a bit. I fell in love with the Omega Dark Side but can't justify an Omega for that price. My thoughts were to get a no date SS sub for kicking around. However I feel it's too much like my GMT. So that would mean I would have to turn my GMT. What should I get in its place? I do not like the datejust 2's and the 36 is probably too small for me now. I want to stick with stainless. Budget is under 10k for this one. Used SS Daytona? Suggestions please. Thanks

You need something with no PCL imo. Maybe a sub no date, explorer II new version pref polar or even a Tudor BB :D (more money for the next piece)

The 214270 or even the 114270 would be perfect for this since the movement offers extra shock protection.

Yes, but this is a great excuse for him to buy another watch.

I took the comment "what to get in its place" as he wanted to get rid of the GMT for something else, otherwise I am all about getting another watch!

Maybe Rolex isn't the right brand for you. I sort of feel that the all the Stainless Steel models have the same look to most folks who aren't watch geeks. You could possibly look at wearing a Sub on a nato strap ....

Good luck deciding.

I think you were right, but with the Exp I, he won't have to.

The Explorer would be a great knock around watch.

I like the idea of an expy 1 to go with your GMT, the glidelock on the new Sub is sweet though and it is a beautiful watch, but like you said maybe a little to much like your GMT per look.

Why not wear the gmt2c? I use mine as a beater/weekend watch.

Explorer II! Polar. Brushed SS bracelet. I have one and it has supplanted my 14060M as a daily driver..Can't take it off!
Alternatively Nato on the GMT you have would certainly work. Dresses down any Rolex but they are also very comfortable to wear.

Get a 114060, best of what you can get in that price range IMO

I wear the GMT II C at my daughter's soccer, at her swim, at her gymnastic, at her dance, at her school...well you get the point. Great watch but I absolutely biased! I put on a few different Nato and leather straps just to mix it up.

I have been looking at the polar explorer II. It's a bit less formal. Good luck with your search!

I would turn your GMT into a daily wear watch.

I hate scratches and the PCL's are the main issue with the GMT. Also the bezel is a little bling for soccer. I could never consider the GMT a knock around watch. Not at that level yet. But I donlike the idea of adding the Explorer 1 39mm and keeping the GMT. Saw a nice pic of the 214270 on a rubbee strap. I like!

The GMT Is perfect. Why don't you have the PCLs brushed out to match the rest of the bracelet.

Have a similar problem. Have a new SubC and a bit too much bling factor for my job. Looking at a pre-owned Omega Planet Ocean 42mm for a daily beater and a bit less bling factor. Looking at $3,500-4k range. I'll use Sub C for everything else.

Agree 100%

I don't understand the GMT being too much for any occasion, and I can't think of a much better one for a soccer game...or anything else

I like that young man's taste!

My suggestion is to wear the GMT as often as you possibly can.

I don't feel comfortable mixing it up in practice with a GMT on. I'm a hands on coach. At games sure.
