No communication from ABC on vintage Heuer
Hello guys. I'm gonna talk about my problems with ABC since it seems like I've hit a dead end.
Last summer during my visit to LA I brought my Autavia 11630 to ABC. This forum is one of the reasons I brought it there. I visit LA probably a couple times a year so it is good to have a reputable vintage service vendor within reach. Alex took my watch on June 24, 2017 and Aaron handled the rest of the communication. I had already returned to Indonesia in July so I would just let them work on it and take their time. We hit a major problem where the previous watchmaker probably botched the chrono pusher screw hole threads and I set up a phone call to discuss this. They said this will add into the time and cost but will keep me updated once the service experts decided the best solution. This was..early August 2017. They apologized on the lack of communication and promised to get back to me. The last email correspondence was August 11 and it was silence since then. I calculated the time difference and called in a couple weeks ago. A staff whom I didn't remember the name checked my service ticket number and promised to relay my message since Aaron was out of town. Expect a response sometime next week, he said. Still I receive nothing. Tried calling them today at about 5.30PM PST but went to voicemail. Now I am frustrated with the way this is going. I wouldn't mind a vintage service taking a long time to do, but the extreme lack of communication is worrying. I do check my Spam folder and occasionally used Whatsapp to get a response. In fact the last call was made through Whatsapp so I know they check them. I will be back in LA late in December so that is the only time I can get a face to face. If any of the ABC staff members are in this forums I appreciate if we can get in touch. I hate to have to bring this issue in public, even moreso as my first post here, but I have few other options. |

OK I was told unexpected delay is not out of the norm in vintage repair cases.
I was promised some more development at end of this week as they escalated the issue to the watchmaker responsible and the owner of the company. |

Hope that you get a response soon. When you get into restoring vintage Chronos delays will come up for sure but as always communication is the key. Not sure about the botched previous service but just some of the old Valjoux/Lemania movement parts can be tough to find.
I am experiencing this with a pre Heuer Leonidas Chrono from the 40’s with a Val. 22 movement in it. Not at ABC but with my local watchmaker. It is a matter of gathering all of the needed parts before tearing it into pieces. And there are a couple that are a little tougher to come by. I have to constantly ask about it and it is annoying but the finished product will be worth it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Another frustration
Crazy enough I have not had definitive update om what is going on with my watch other than promises to keep me posted ASAP.
Information flow was ok the first month then absolute nothing. More Read Whatsapps (double blue check marks). Called in and someone answered saying he had no access to the database of watches. I am in town for the holidays and will probably drive down to get somebody there. Very frustrated to get this experience from a vendor with great reps in this forum. |

Watch collected
So ABC had finished the watch and it is back in my possession.
They did a good job and was curteous, but communication could have been better. I would not hesitate to recommend them, but you have to be proactive as well. Talking over the phone is best. |

Awesome! Too bad that the communication was lacking though. Can we see some pictures of the watch? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Glad you got the work completed and got your watch back. When you get a chance post a picture. I really like the Tag Autavia's.

I started following up about the status of my watch in late September. They have not responded to a single email... Very frustrating.

You have to keep calling and get a person on the line. Things moved tremendously faster when they speak to a real person on the line.
