Welcome to TRF, Doc. Glad you've joined our fun bunch.

I don't know if this is a 50th Anniversary GMT. I do know that Rolex has come out with this new model:

As opposed to the existing 3185 movment in the current GMT-II and Exp-II models wherein the independedly movable small (hour) hand has to be turned round the midnight mark to change the date, the new GMT-II is now fitted with the 3186 movment which allows for a quick-set of the date.

Welcome DRVJA. I know nothing of Rolex's intentions nor do they of mine.

Hi and welcome to TRF.

The one on the right looks like all BLACK to me!! The one on the left has a green dial, but a black bezel.

FYI Roger's mommy ordered one for Roger's daddy from a dealer in HK which Roger's mommy might go to pick up in a couple of months when she goes to visit Roger's grandmother LOL

For some reason my mom loves coloured dials (loves the blue Sub and YM) so when I showed her that one she said that for my dad's b-day in March she would get one, if she cant get it while she is in HK (who knows if the dealer will have one by then) we may order one from my AD (The wonderful Damiani Jewellers) and get it ready for xmas this year or for his 60th b-day in 2007.

Hows that for a great idea?

It's a great idea if you're Roger's mommy's husband.

Its also a great idea if you're Roger's mommy's husband's son, since you can borrow such a watch from time to time

Of (rather dark here) have it eventually bequeathed to you. Hopefully not for many, many, many years, though.

Those are genuine GMT-II full gold models introduced as 50th Anniversary models in 2005. You can see their pictures in the latest A4 size Rolex catalogue dated 8.2005.
