eBay Submariner - does this look legit?

Can anyone offer an opinion on the authenticity of the Sub offered in this eBay auction?

Seller has only a small amount of feedback and interestingly sold a similar Sub within the last 6 months:

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NEW-ROLEX...53.m1431.l2649

Thank you!

Seems most of the feedback is buyer side and also the pictures are shit.
Golden rule: buy the seller

The watch is fake. I’m betting that fake invoice and warranty card are printed with details from Zegg & Cerlati in Monaco. Seen a few of those doing the rounds recently. I recently posted a 116500 with the same set up.

I agree with you - but could you share some wristbuster pointers on which parts are visibly fake, for a peasant like myself.

Fake questions are YES or NO. Details are not supplied. Otherwise fakers use the details to improve their fakes. Please do not buy expensive watches off eBay unless you are an expert.

Do you really think people creating fakes will look at this comment and 'improve' - have you not seen the latest fakes coming out of their fake factory.
You wouldn't be able to tell looking at a photo.

Replica watchmakers of limited skills certainly gain an advantage from reading details like you’re requesting.

The expert fakirs don’t need the help.

So the reason we don’t discuss the many different “tells” is to help reduce the growth of pedestrian fakirs.

False, a WIS can tell. There are expensive process that go into making Rolex watches that do appear on fakes. For example the PVD platinum finish in the bezel inserts will never be faked... white paint does not look the same

The watch above is fake.

There are aftermarket inserts on ebay that are almost the same.

if you guys think that the counterfeiters read this forum to improve their fakes based on our observations and discussion of "tells" that is completely incorrect. They must get waay better and more accurate reference from the high resolution 10 X magnification pics in "look at my new watch" threads where we post pics showing intricate details of all our watches. Its basically a blue print they can upload into any CAD program and get dimensions etc...

That’s not why tells aren’t discussed. The counterfeiters are running multi million dollar operations. Lathes, CNC machines etc aren’t cheap. The can and do buy multiple genuine watches to copy. They know exactly what’s wrong with the fake watches they produce.

The point is to make life harder for John Doe who’s recently bought a fake $700 116610LN online with a fake warranty card and genuine box, manuals, tag etc and is now going to stick it up on eBay.

If we were to point out that, for example, the crown height is in the wrong position, he’d just not photograph the watch from the crown side. If we were to point out the inner clasp engravings were wrong, he’d just not photograph the inner clasp. If we were to point out the coronet on the dial is wrong, he’d set the hands over it when taking photos.

I had the same discussion with Adam/Gladiator a while back and made the same points as you. It was he who pointed out the above, something which I didn’t think of at the time.

This watch has been re-listed - with a €1 starting price! - and has already been bid up to nearly €7000

What is sad is that if you look at his feedback, he got positive feedback from someone who bought an even more obvious fake (i.e. even a putz like me can see it): https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/New-rolex...p2047675.l2557
