I'm brand new here. Spent an hour reading Mosco's "Beware" Thread and.....
FIRST: Thank you Mosco (Greg?) or Mosco and Greg for taking the time to post that. An incredible thread. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
SECOND: I'm a nice, honest guy but I'm a putz. I'm not that smart, etc. I need lots of help. Amazingly, I do ok with the girls, tho. But I digress. so.... THIRD: I'm fixing to buy a rolex no-date sub. I've decided to spend the extra $$$ and buy from an AD. Maybe later when I'm more experienced I'll be able to spot the fakes and enter the pre-owned world, but for now, it's AD all the way. and this brings me to my question that was sorta brought up in Mosco's thread but never really resolved for me (and I read every post): If I can't trust an AD, who can I trust? There was the post about the AD in Hong Kong who had bad employees switching real Rolex's with fakes, and then selling them. There were posts about AD's who didn't know their and bought fake ones and resold them as real, or had the ol' switcharoo pulled on them. What am I to do? I know I won't buy from an AD who buys watches and then resells them, but except for that, I don't know what to do. Am I being overly paranoid? I'm a working stiff and $5,500.00 for a watch is alot of money for me. |

Welcome to the Forum
If you are looking to buy at a particular AD, post the name here to see if any folks have experience with them. The authenticity at a reputable AD should be unquestionable. Secondly, we have some great seller on this forum. Check our For Sale section. |

If you buy at an AD you won't have any problems. Check with Rolex USA once you choose your AD. You can check also on the Rolex website to see if they are in fact a grey/used wannabe AD or a real AD.
If they are a real AD you will not have any issues. |

First , Welcome to TRF .
I can understand that one could become a bit worried after reading that thread . Then again , that kind of thing only happens very rarely . This particular problem , after all the exposure it got , has been dealt with . The chances that you buy a fake Rolex at any AD are negligible . Just go ahead and buy any new Rolex or pre-loved from Rolex AD's . Don't worry , even if it did happen the matter would be immediately resolved by the AD . |
