It’s a marathon, not a race. I’d slow down and enjoy the hunt now that you have a few.

Since when is buying what only is available a collecting exercise? I thought it was more about finding sought after pieces. I don’t consider myself a collector, I like wearing them, then again I’d rather have the watch than the money so maybe I am a collector. Or idiot.

Can you imagine this exact post 15 years ago, funny what’s happened.

This exact post but without the ‘supply’ issue (there is no supply issue btw) would be akin to going onto a Mercedes forum today and saying...

My buddy just got me into cars, I visited the Mercedes dealer and built up a rapport, called a week later and they had a C63 AMG that wasn’t assigned, I bought it straight away, then I rang another dealer and they had an A45 so I bought that. I dropped in at another dealer on my way home and couldn’t believe it, they had a C63 wagon so I bought that and I turned round and they had a Golf R sat there so I couldn’t pass on the opportunity and bought that too. Can’t believe how lucky I’ve been.

People would think you’d lost your marbles. Where did it all go wrong.

Upon reflection it does come across as a bit tacky, going round and buying lots of random Rolexes without any regard

A very unwise move, but hey - we all need to be happy.
On that note, the poster seems very happy; & I doubt he’s struggling in life. GooD for him.

It's awful to live with petty jealousy.

Wow. Congratulations. When you go, you go big! Can you call/visit my Ad for me please? I’ve been on lists for years now, but alas, nothing new yet.

As you can see: there are plenty of different strong opinions here. Don't think too much other people's opinions—it’s your life, your way of starting this amazing passionate hobby/journey.
At first I had only one Rolex. After some time I started like you: I got some very hot models in a short period of time.
Then I changed everything....
I got a little carried away, I also noticed, that I bought some watches only because they were hard to get -models. Now it’s more important to me that if the watch honestly signs to me somehow or not. I am also such a collector that I have to live with the watch for some time to know if it is a Keeper or not.
I started with Rolex, but know I have also Omega, Grand Seiko, Eterna and Glashütte...
I also love the history behind the watch; when was the watch invented? For what? What is the story behind the mechanism? Who has been wearing the watch?
The visual beauty of the dial is also relevant to me. Watches can be like some small paintings, pieces of Art.
Someone will judge you here (as you can read some earlier comments...) for spending that much for watches.. I think that it’s just sad making that kind of comments. It’s your choice what you want to do with your money. People are drinking their money, spending for cars/travelling/clothes or don’t have the money to spend at all. Someone just envies you.
I am truly happy for you! I enjoy having different watches. I’ve made many mistakes, but for me: it’s just a part of this journey.
Thanks for sharing and once again:
Welcome!

Congratulations! What a good start to your collection.
This story is precisely why I wouldn’t bundle or buy other jewelry in order to establish a relationship with an AD. If it’s meant to be, a watch can be obtained with some luck. I’m glad you are in a position to splurge.
What will be the next piece you desire? I’m sure you got the “illness” haha.
Peace brother!

Great start to a collection. Slow down though; a collection is defined just as much by what you don't have in your collection as by what you do.
