New Pair
Folks,
What can I say, today was a good day, despite the crappy New York City weather. I know that they are not both Rolex(es), but still, I think they look nice and make a nice pair. The IWC is a 150th anniversary model with an in-house movement. The other one needs no introduction. Kind regards, Dimitri |

GMT looks like it has a blue dial, but I imagine that’s just the light?

Wonderful pair! Equally impressive table! Is that Zebrawood?

Uppersouth,
Great observation on the table, it is indeed zebra wood, it is an old parsons metal table with a zebra wood top (not solid, mind you), from Room and Board. As for the watches, I have been wanting to get a Portugieser for the longest time, however, the standard watch comes with a Valjoux movement and I had a hard time paying feeling excited about the watch with that movement. Then in WatchTime magazine I saw the review of the 150th Anniversary model with a white dial and the in-house movement, it also has a sapphire back so you can see the actual movement. Initially, I had placed an order with IWC but then realized that the Wempe boutique could also get it. The fellow who helped me out could not have been nicer. Regarding the GMT, I drooled over it since the first day I saw it last year. Shortly after it came out, I purchased an Explorer II with a white face, which is by far my most favorite watch. It supplemented an Explorer II from 2001 with a white face. When the call came about the GMT, however, I could not not get it. I guess the Sky Dweller May have to wait until next year, after the house renovations finish. Many thanks to everyone about the kind words and wishes, this is a great forum to share these amazing watches. Kind regards, Dimitri |
