SOTC & Adding the CHNR

Here’s my collection thus far. As another user posted in his “Have you been there?” thread, I’ve picked up all of these relatively recently. I’ve been in the market since 2016 but finally started pulling the trigger this year. As such, these haven’t exactly been impulse buys; I’ve been relatively thoughtful about the watches I’ve picked up given how long I’ve mulled over the Rolex lineup.

Additionally, I’m scheduled to get the TT CHNR within a month or two. I’m pretty near the front of the list with my AD (assuming a list exists; not sure how popular the watch is in my area). Having only seen the CHNR online, I think I love it but obviously haven’t seen it in person.

Given my collection, would you pick up the CHNR if you were in my shoes? Set aside the “well idk how much that money means to you, OP” caveat. All things being equal, do you think the CHNR is redundant given the BLNR or 116503? Other thoughts?

The CHNR wouldn't be redundant in your collection. The bigger question will be whether or not you like it once you see it in person. If you like it, chances are you'll want it.

Doesn't seem out of place with the BLNR considering you have 3 Daytonas.

Forget the watches. How do you like that Wolf watchbox? I need a new one.

No, not at all. The CHNR is at/near the top of my list right now for grails. It's very different color wise, and since it's TT you won't feel like it's so similar to the GMTs you already have. I say go for it!

You have three Daytona’s so adding another GMT shouldn’t hurt. You have no brown tones or Everose, so I think it’s a splendid choice .

Can’t tell if that’s tongue in cheek or not. I view the Daytonas as an exception given the SS shortage. My wife wears the TT more than me.

It was a gift from my AD so I didn’t pick it up because I had a particular affinity for it. I definitely like it.

If you own a TT Daytona it obviously means you like TT, and I agree with my friends here that the CHNR seems to be the best looking of them, so I'd say get it.

No tongue in cheek intended at all.

I found it odd that you would ask it if was odd to have 2 GMT's when the stable already has 3 of the same watch model already.

The CHNR is a stunner on its own. It seems to be getting a lot of attention since Basel.

How about a dress watch on a strap? Patek, Lange, Journe, JLC?

I don't think the CHNR will be a redundant addition to your collection. I think that watch and your BLNR can play nicely with one another and co-exist.

I'm really looking forward to the incoming posts with real photos of that watch. It grows on me every time I see it online.

Trust me, I'm going to give it a very strong look. The price is steep but it looks killer from what I've seen.

It would go well with the others. Very different despite being another GMT.

I don't think it will be redundant, but I think your collection would benefit more with a two tone blue sub, the blue is fantastic. Although you can't go wrong with the CHNR because of the everose either..

Really there are those who collect nothing but subs or nothing but GMTs. You come in close with your Daytona collection. If you find it feels redundant then you can sell what ever means less (TT Daytona or the BLNR). I have questions of its redundancy alongside my Blue SkyD and Explorer II. I've decided to go ahead and I'm at the head of the list with my AD as well. We'll see when it can actually be ordered and get some sort of time line for delivery from the AD; pretty certain they'll say October.

I think the TT CHNR would fit right in with your current collection. 3 daytonas, one TT. 3 non chrono sport models, one TT.

That said the TT CHNR isn’t my perfence in a piece. At this point if I were you I’d be thinking about something more special like a PM piece. Maybe a smurf or something in YG.

It would look great slotted in between the TT Daytona and the BLNR.
It’s an awesome piece, and I’m looking forward to seeing some wrist shots!
