16800 purchase advice
I'm still learning about Rolex (the deeper you go, the more you get lost) and have found I don't like the latest generation of Rolexes. I've been looking for something reasonable that had a vintage vibe to it. Ideally a 5513 but the ones with nice Patina seem to go for too much. I started looking at 1680 as I like the date wheel with the open 6 and 9. I came across this 16800 that has a nice dark patina to the markers and a ghosted bezel.
Could you tell me if there's anything wrong with the watch and the price? So I know what to look for next time. Also, would you avoid purchasing from an international seller? And will I get hit with customs if I purchase internationally? chrono24 won't give me the links for the pics so I'll just provide the link to the watch I'm looking at - https://www.chrono24.com/rolex/subma...-id7955375.htm |

IMO, the patina looks a bit too orange and it may possibly be re-lumed. But what do I know.

Clearly the international situation adds risk. I would not do it.

Over-polished case too. Those poor crown guards.
This reference is getable from several reputable dealers in the U.S. Just be patient. They're out there. Michael Morgan at Iconic recently sold a fabulous LNOS 16800 with boxes and papers. Asking price was $13K. |

I'm OK with the markers & lume. The watch is certainly not "mint" and the bezel insert is not "ceramic" The bracelet also has quite a bit of wear, see how the center links have worn away part of the outer links? I would look for a watch from within the US.

Pass, I think there are better examples out there for that price.
