Basel 2019 new sub??

Do you think next year will be the year they release the new sub/sub date and if so is it likely they will be released in precious metals first and then a few years down the line released steel??

I don't think we'll see a new Sub for some time yet, was only 10yrs ago we got a new one.. but when we do, you're correct, it'll probably be PM first..

I'd go nuts on an SS Smurf, but I think it won't be released for a few years, Rolex already has several SS models made of unobtainium at the moment. Maybe for the 75th birthday of the Sub in 2028.

Here's my best guess:

Submariner Date PM- 2019
GMT Master SS LN - 2019
Submariner Date SS LN-2020
Batman -2020
Submariner ND - 2021
Hulk -2022

...but if we see a Batman next year then the Hulk could come out in 2021.

Can't really make accurate predictions as the past is no precedent any more.

A no-date Smurf, you will definetly have to add that to a 7 year waiting list

I was hoping for this too but maybe I should just get a Sub ND now then trade for the new movement, whenever that happens

The ceramic Submariner date was introduced in 2010 and the Submarimer ceramic in 2012.

My guess is it’ll be a while longer

There is nothing wrong with the current movement. If you like the current Sub, then get it.

yup, newer is not always better, I still prefer my 14060m 2-liner to a ceramic Sub

Agree

The 3135 in my DBlue was the smoothest winding movement I’ve ever had. For some reason the 3235 feels a little “gritty” by comparison.

Have to agree possible the 32 series movement but that could be introduced anytime ,without any fanfare announcement from Rolex.

This is the earliest basel prediction thread i think I’ve seen.

Doubtful for new sub imo. Be good if some of the current were actually available in ADs; lets start with that first ;)

2019 is the 50th anniversary of the 1680 AKA red submariner. Rolex seems keen on releasing anniversary models so that’s one model that will see a lot of speculation

I don’t think we will see a ‘new’ sub — or more likely any new variant of it until the 75th Anniversary THEN perhaps a red line — OR a new variation of the 114060 —- which I would be all about (and truthfully prefer).

I don’t think that updating the movement requires some big hoop-la or an event, such as Basel...not sure why folks get hung up on that either. There’s nothing ‘wrong’ with the current movement.

A movement upgrade is no drama to me, cannot even see it. Not like a 911 with a new engine, a watch isn't going any faster and needs no more power..

..mind you if they made a new Submariner Turbo i'd buy one.. lol..

I would just want it for the longer power reserve as it would be worn in rotation
