Rhodium watch dial as a one and only watch

The title says it all. Can you have a rhodium dial as a one and only or what color would you have as a one and only? Mine was black but I wanted a change so I’m trying the dark rhodium. I hope it’s as versatile as the Rolex black sunburst

Not sure if I’m doing it right but that’s all I have :-) dj41 Rhodium / smooth / oyster :-)

I love it more today than the day I bought it.

That could work, but I think I’d always need / want a black dial watch

For a one and only I'd prefer a Submariner, which as you likely know is not offered in Rhodium. That said, I think the DJ41 with Rhodium would make a fantastic do it all piece. Maybe even more so than a sub actually, but I just like Subs.

The rhodium dialed Yachtmaster is very versatile. The pop of blue is great too.

Rhodium watch dial as a 1 watch collection.

It would be a datejust 41 or ii. Oyster maybe diamond dial. Just love the dark rhodium with diamond dial. Even though I know diamonds make it dressier but that’s for another topic.

I wouldn’t call owning 1 watch a collection. With that said, the rhodium dial is beautiful. I do think it can be a “do all” watch. I own one and love it.

Your right 1 watch is not a collection. But my main point or question is can a rhodium dial be a one and only. I want to get my watch collection down to one. I’m giving my father my submariner and selling my jlc master compressor. I have always had and loved black dial watches but want something new. Just tired of switching up watches and Id rather just have 1. And I’m not a submariner guy, I bought it because everyone should have one once in their lives and I have had mine.

I have the OP39 and the YM40, both with rhodium dials. I think either could be my "one" watch, but I enjoy having them both.

IMO the rhodium dial dj41 can be the only watch for both casual and formal occasions.

It wasn't until the last number of years that I'd ever own multiple working watches. I see no issue with any watch being a one and only, especially not a Rolex!!! I do see issues with participation on this forum if you want a watch to be a one and only. Few can resist the allure of more watches when browsing these pages.

Yes. Owning multiple watches sometimes elicit a slight tinge of guilt on my end, like having too many shoes. Truth is, one carefully selected watch can pretty much be an all-around daily wear. Like the daytona.

Rhodium watch dial as a one and only watch

What about datejust 41 or ii rhodium diamond dial? Daily or too dressy? I notice on the white gold the diamonds don’t pop as much as on the yellow or rose gold.

Beautiful. Just something about a rhodium and diamond dial is sexy to my eyes. Like they are a perfect match. The only color I think where diamonds don’t look too dressy if you know what i mean.

I have the YM rhodium.

it is the most versatile watch. it can be sporty and casual, but also dressy.

It could be my only watch, if i didn't have a watch addiction.

I have a rhodium OP39 in my collection. I bought it because I love the dial, the simplicity and the comfort. It also fills the “GADA” slot in my rotation. It can easily pass muster under a cuff with formal dress. It can just as easily be worn with casual clothes. You could safely wear it in the pool whilst on holiday. It can absolutely be a 1-watch collection.

Unless you really need the date. Then the rhodium DJ is your friend.

Oh and it’s rubbish if you’re nocturnal.

i would struggle with anything other than black for an only watch. Possibly blue, but probably not.

Rhodium dial (grey) goes with everything. My first ever Rolex was a 116334 diamond rhodium dial and still have it to this day.

I don't think there is such a thing these days as a one and only! I've heard of it but haven't seen it in a long time.

I guess there's two parts to this:

The first part - can a rhodium dialed watch be a one and only. Of course it can. Dark rhodium is probably more versatile than black. Its not as stark and goes with absolutely anything. Put that dial on a DJ with an oyster bracelet and you've probably got one of the most versatile watches Rolex makes (smooth or fluted bezel)

We way over think these things. I wore a 6239 Daytona (silver panda dial) as an only watch for 13 years. Worked with everything. Then black dialed watches (a sub and then a sea dweller) the next 13 years, also worked with everything and both pretty much as only watches (had a G shock for mountain biking, etc). Even my chocolate dialed Daytona pretty much went with everything.

You're only going to have to start thinking about versatility with the likes of green sunburst, the various grape dials and perhaps blue in some situations.

As for the second part, if you're going to go diamonds then IMO rhodium or silver are the only ways to go for an only watch. As you've said, rhodium dresses the diamonds down a bit

I own the DJ II with the Rhodium Diamond dial. If it was a one and only I would go with the white dial.
