I think I'll take my name off the SS Daytona list

After seeing a picture of Steven Gerrard's wife wearing one in a national newspaper, I think it's become a trophy for WAGS.

For our cousins over the water, Steven Gerrard is a professional football (soccer) player and wives and girlfriends of these players are refered to as WAGS.

Go for the TT Daytona, Adrian. It would be a perfect match for your TT Sub (even though it DOES have a black face and bezel)!!!

Yeah, get the TT Cos. I'd take the one with the modern "PN" dial. Lovely looking watch!

I think another Rolex purchase will have to wait for a while.

As great as the SS Daytona is, the WG Daytona is much better, IMO. If only had $25K.

Agreed, I've said for a long time it's overpriced and over hyped.
I wonder how many people would lust after one if they were as readily available as some other Rolex models.........

It shouldn't matter who wears what. If all chose against watches that are worn by people we don't like, then none of us would probably have a Rolex. Hell, Castro has a Sub, and Guevara had a GMT. That makes no difference to me as I want the watch for me.

To not want something because someone else has it is just as bad as wanting something just because someone else has it. Make sense?

AJ,

The WAGS will move on to whatever the watch-de-jour is and just toss that Daytona in their drawers.

Once you have yours, it will just delight you more and more each day....and if you don't get one now....what will you strive for in your golden years .........

I have got to say that I am NOT a fan of the whole WAG/celebrity bull.

Rolex probably gave the watch to Stevie G and it backfired badly when he gave it to his missus.

All we need now is to see it on Jade Goody's wrist and the lists will be as short as a teenager's attention span.

Women wearing men's (size) watches is growing more common. Anyone recall the story in Vanity Fair on the watches all these hot women wore? The Daytona isn't a big watch. It's actually not a bad size for a women these days. I think that's why we have the "big Daytona" rumors. Rolex will adapt. Hey, if they can wear a 44mm Panny...?

Now if you're revolted because a "WAG" is wearing it, know that there are probably more people wearing a SS Daytona for the wrong reasons (hard to get, false sense of status, fading disco boy, etc) than the fact it contains one of the best watch movements EVER made in a classic dial layout.

If I were you, I'd say on the list and not let someone spoil my dreams.

You know, truthfully I'm not bothered if I get one or not. I've been on a list that long that I've completely gone off the watch.
