Sub non date for me too as I like the more balanced look.

I have the 16610 and the 16610lv, but if a perfect 14060M two liner appears to me in a trade by the 16610, i will think a lot. To me it’s the most cool sub after the LV. The uniques advantages in a date sub are they can had SEL and engraved rehaut (over the two liner, I don’t like the four liner).

If both are without SEL or EH take the no date.

Both are great and subject to personal preferences. One isn’t better than the other. I would consider the Submariner to be the “purist” model, will the Submariner date just has one more functionality. I have my Sub Date 16610 incoming tomorrow! My heart was pulling towards no date, but my Speedy has no date and constantly find myself looking at it wishing the date was there.

I've had both. Was initially sold on historical WIS justification for no date. Didn't last long. Sub date is more practical as a one and only IMO. Maybe if I had a hulk or SD, no date would be fine. But my ideal two watch combo would be SubC date and Explorer 1.

Same here. I bought a 114060 and actually prefer it. However, it got old looking at my watch like i'm used to in order to find the date and so I eventually traded for a 116610.

My advice, if it's a daily, get the date.

No date. Got too many watches with a date + it’s so much easier setting time only since I’m lazy. And it’s clean looking.

I like the 5 digit and early cases best but have no issue with the 6 digit cases. How about we call the Submariner that does not have a date the Original as its hard to argue it is not since it was born first. I think if it is a real Rolex and has the word Submariner on the dial it is indeed a Submariner. Just my thoughts though.

I prefer my 16610 over the new model. I like the case better but I would prefer the glidelock and the maxi dial with larger hands.

I agree, I wish they made a transition model with the old style case with a glidelock and ceramic bezel. Would have been winner.

Nice Sub! Question does the four liner come with SEL?

The no date looks better IMO, nice balanced dial. But I know when I wear my black bay I find myself looking down at the watch for the date a couple times per day at least. You don't realize how often you use the date feature until you don't have one. If I was getting a one-and-only watch I think it would have to have a date function.

I know that is the problem I am having with both my Rolex watches.

The 5-digit Sub ND is such an incredible watch. Consider the beautiful, uncluttered symmetry of the dial. The slimmer profile and lighter weight which make it a dream to wear. The fact that it shares its DNA with the very first no-date Submariners designed by Rolex in the early 50's. To me the Sub ND is the ultimate no-nonsense Rolex watch.

Been wearing my 16710 so much lately that I've forgotten how beautiful my 14060m is. Then I put it on and I'm quickly reminded why it's been a staple of my collection.

I'd like maxi dial and larger hands also. The glidelock is just a bonus.

6 digit LN Date is my favorite. The Sub is the original, but I think the Date has become more of the flagship over the years for the line. At least until, the movement quality was put on more equal ground with the newer 6 digit updates. I go with Daytonas when i don't feel like a date function.

There is only one SUB. the SD used to be the coolest date watch till they inflated it for no reason and slapped a magnifying glass on it... so sad but hey not much is left of the Rolex tool watch

All other things being equal (price, appearance, utility, personal preference, etc.), which will have a greater anticipated appreciation, or lesser anticipated depreciation in value, the 114060 Submariner or the 116610 Submariner Date in the next 5-15 or more years.
