ID'ing my Rolex
My dad gave me this watch when I was 10 so I've had it several decades. Just trying to figure out what model it is and ballpark value (not that I'm going to sell it). I'm assuming it's legit since I bought a new band from the local Rolex dealer about twenty years ago and they didn't say anything, but who knows? I've searched all over the exterior with a magnifying glass and cannot find any numbers or letters anywhere on it. Any ideas? thanks

Measure between the lugs first - 19mm or 20mm will tell you a lot. If you can get the strap off you'll see the model number engraved between one set of lugs and the serial number engraved between the other. But from what I can see, it's gold but with lug holes? Might be a 1014 (36mm Oyster 14K capped with a 1560 inside), which would make it a rare bird even on this forum. There are similar 34mm models I'm not sure about though.
There are other possibilities too. I see those lugs are really polished down, but the metal still looks gold? Maybe it's a solid gold case, and someone drilled the lugs for some reason. Get that strap off and you'll know. Anyway, interesting, best of luck eh |

My guess would be a model 1024 from the late 60s, early 70s. 19mm between the lugs, 34 mm wide.

Wow that was a good guess. I measured it on an online ruler app and came up with 20mm and 35mm but it could be 19/34. Hard to tell for sure holding it up to my screen haha I looked as closely as I could tell but couldn't find any markings between the lugs. Thanks for the help
