Vintage datejust 16030

Hi,

I'm new to this forum and started my Rolex collection with buying a Vintage Datejst, reference 16030. I already had a new 116610LN but is seems to be that vintage is even more attractive for me :).

I have research online about the tritium dials and have a question where I hope someone could help me with. The hands look quite white. Do you think it is correct to assume that these hands where replaces during a service (given the fact that tritium was used), and the hour markers on the dial weren't (given the patina look still).

And if the hands were replaced can it than be that the luminating effect is gone by now? The watch is from 1986, my year of birth.

Sorry if this question is already answered somewhere else, but that has to do with the fact I'm new here.

Thanks,
Dirk

Nice watch. Yes, the hands were probably replaced at a service. Whether they will glow or not depends on how long ago that service was done. If it’s luminova it will probably glow. You should ask the seller if that concerns you.

Wow that is a beautiful example and although the hands do appear to be replaced it still seems ok

Congrats on your 116610LN also

Nice watch. I have 16030 also and I love the plexi and the tapestry dial. The dial is already patina and turning cream color on my 16030.

Just as lhanddds wrote, the hands were replaced, most likely with luminova set of hands. It's nothing uncommon, although it's always nice to have them matching color/patina on the hour markers.

The watch itself seems to be in good condition.

Thanks for your answer. The seller also think that with a service the hands were replaced, but het doesn't know when that was done. Do you think if that was done some significant years ago, it is possible that the luminating effect is gone?

Aha, this watch is from Peter from Metropolis Collection. From my own experience I can tell you that Peter is a very reliable seller and a real gentleman. I think he offers reals quality for good prices.

So call him or mail him, he'll answer your questions correctly.
