Seamaster running really fast

Somthing is wrong with my new Omega Seamaster (purchased this summer). I pulled it out of the safe a few days ago and it is gaining about an hour each day. Any ideas on this?

Is that covered under warranty? And I thought these were anti-magnetic?

No, it is not an issue with the manufacture of the watch, which is what warranties cover.

However, if it is magnetized then most Dealers with watchmakers will de-mag it, usually without charge.

Of course, it may be something else that is covered by the warranty.

OP didn't mention what model is it. if its indeed the MC then yes it shouldn't be magnetized.

Taking to an AD is best, its under warranty and will be fixed within.

How this will be magnetised as it is supposed to be 15k gauss resistant?
Sitting in the safe will not harm, it is something else...

I just checked it and it is gaining 6-7 seconds per minute. I will take it to my AD tomorrow.

I took it in to the AD today and they de-magnetized it, but that didn't help. They are sending it in to Omega for a service under warranty. Hopefully it won't be too long.

Thanks for the update. It sure sounded like symptoms of a watch that's magnetized, and it was my first thought, and then a respondent in to this thread pointed out why that's practically impossible with this model .

I guess on one hand it's good to learn Omega's extraordinary resistance to magnetism is real, but on the other hand it's a real stumper how a modern mechanical watch such as this Omega can do what yours is doing.

I wonder if Omega will say what went wrong. I'm guessing the documentation will simply say that a "Full Maintenance Service" was performed under warranty, and we'll remain in the dark.

The AD seemed to think it was a mainspring issue after de-magnatizing didn’t work.

I picked my watch back up today from the AD. I set the time about six hours ago and it has not gained or lost one second yet. I’m happy. The paperwork said that the watch was out of calibration not in spec. They did a partial service and adjusted the time.

Looks good, hopefully it's a one-time glitch.
