I can say as a fact the blue is different from my 5712a side by side in different lights I've compared in. That and Patek and my AD specifically talked about the 5726 blue going back to the original 5711 blue.

These are some early comparisons during Patek events. I personally think there is no difference compare to 5711 and 5980 and I believe 5712 has the same dial as 5711/5980.

Love the crisp clean dial on the white 5711...but this blue gradient is really spectacular with the moon phase.

Yes, recent addition! Long story short...I was thinking about picking up either a 5712 (for some added complications) or 5711R (love the weight and elegance) as I truly enjoying wearing the white 5711 over my other watches. My AD had known that I had actually wanted the white 5726 originally (the fact that it was the only one I ever saw in stores may have helped) but I didn't feel comfortable spending that much money on a single watch at that time as I was first testing the waters with Patek. I also met an incredibly nice and seasoned watch collector randomly who ended up showing me his personal collection of really rare watches collected over 30 years and advised me to get a 5740 if I wanted a nautilus (his view of what would truly be collectible and rare in the next 30 years), but was out of my price range. After discussing this all with my AD, they ended up deciding to allocate me a blue 5726 as they thought it would fit well with my collection, provide added complications, some weight and elegance, and also have a good mix of history (traditional gradient blue dial, Patek AC complication, classic nautilus design). It was a wonderful idea and they gave me time to think over the decision without any pressure.

Congrats again, Sheldor. I love 5726. You have been lucky.
And you have a good AD !! |
