Sun May 15th Stone Crabs dinner thread (I always liked looking at the past ones!)

I never contributed yet but always enjoyed watching those threads and seeing what everybody else eats for dinner so my contribution....

Last day of Stone Crab season in FL! Caught down in the FL Keys fresh. Oh and I happened to bring up a GMT and Cartier as well.

Nice!

The season went longer this year? I thought it ended in April.

I was at Whole Foods in NYC last week and they had stone crabs. I looked at my wife and said those had to be a month old! Clearly I was wrong and should have bought them.

Too bad I missed them, I'll be back in Miami next week

I did the same thing for a while (was living in downtown Manhattan) and had the house in Boca so was splitting my time as well! Moved down officially to Boca in 2012.

Tasty. I'm sensing a seafood theme here today.

Still trying to figure out how to split the time. I spent 2 years based out of Miami and commuting 3x a month back to NYC. I started to really miss the 4 season so I'm based out of NYC for now and reversing that commute

I've been taking advantage of the Stone crabs at Whole Foods as well, really great to have access to them. Years ago I would get them shipped up for New Years because my wife loves them. Now we don't have to because Del Frisco's carry's them as well, so no more shipping, and no more flying just to get a taste...

And from what I read it's a sustainable fishery, as only one claw is harvested at a time, and the claws grow back so...

Absolutely, one claw and that's it. Delicious and sustainable, whats not to love? Plus make the wife happy and accessible. Sounds like win-win-win-win to me.
