Postal inspector is an LEO but more importantly had I been there I would have wanted my watch that I paid for.

Glad we waste taxpayer money insuring no one gets blown up, or atleast there's a witness to it. Hahaha

And this is America, no unlawful search and seizure. If they asked me to watch me open my package id tell them to GTFO my property. Hell even if it was an LEO id tell them to make like a tree and @&$" off. If it was a safety concern it should've been sniffed by a dog before delivery. Once it makes it on your property they have no authority over your property.

@Kilyung, it is most certainly NOT within their authority. If they have reasonable suspicion then the proper authorities need to take care of it. But as far as anything else is concerned they are simply a messenger.

I would think more of a suspicion of a sender than recipient. The sender was one of the "preferred" sellers that are so highly coveted. It was USPS Priority Mail.

These were from jewelry stores whose addresses were on a list they kept.

They never said so - but it was suggested these Jewelers had filed claims of theft against USPS and had high value claims. None were Registered Mail.

Presuming the story is all legit - the idea of coming to the addressee's premises to observe opening a package doesn't seem as is they mistrusted the sender. Nor suspected an explosive or other contraband. It would suggest suspicion of the addressee, or was a rogue PI up to something.

BTW, as a college kid working the 10:30p - 7:00a graveyard shift, this was the most interesting stuff I did there.
