Selling the collection

Has anyone ever had the thought of just selling it all. Lately ive just been in a mood to cash it all out and then maybe in the future pick up a Patek 5167 and a TT Sub. I currently have a DJII, DD YG 18238 and Tudor Black Bay as well as a Cartier Love in Yellow Gold. I dont know just a random thought.

I think about it all the time... having just one watch that ages with me and kind of eliminates the obsession I currently have with constantly needing to flip a watch for something else. I have gone through just about every Tudor/Rolex sport model as well as countless Omegas, Breitlings and Micro Brands and none really stick. However the thought of leaving the hobby behind saddens me a bit...

For me there is only one to keep if I were to sell my watches and that would be my Breitling Chronomat that was gifted to me by my mom for college graduation...

I will never sell any of my watches, unless I really have to due to unforeseen financial problems.

My watches are my babies/family members. I would never ever part with them. I am only adding to the collection.

No selling/flipping allowed over here.

I just cashed in 3 for partial payment towards a PP 5167.

Bought first nice watch (Rolex 16610) in 2006.

Bought second nice watch (Omega GSOTM) which really made the bug bite as far as watch collecting in late 2015.

Bought third watch three weeks later (Rolex 5330) which was a double mistake. It was too small and then hard to sell. I knew it was going to be hard to sell before I bought it but just couldn't get past how it looked. It was nice looking and different with the movable lugs.

Then last week I said screw it I can always recoup the Sub and GSOTM easily so just made a deal with one of our members for the 5167 and couldn't be happier. Think it was the best move I've ever made in my limited experience in the hobby. Oh, and that even includes selling a Michael Jordan Fleer BGS graded 9.5, 9.5, 9, 9 to have most of the cash towards the GSOTM.

Good luck! I've found that having one extremely nice piece far outweighs multiple nice pieces.

If it's not being worn I'll sell/trade it but I'll never sell the entire collection... Well maybe for that island dream home...

I've thought about it several times and just keeping one, but then I think I'm being jealous because just like the Patek guys say "You never actually own a Patek Philippe. You merely look after it for the next generation".

So I will keep them as long as I can since they will be my son's anyway.

I've though about it. Once sell all and just buy a 5970P and another time sell all and exit this hobby. Have done neither!
