London hotels

My wife and I will be in London September 1 through the fifth. We are looking for recommendations for hotels that will be walking distance to the underground and accessible from Heathrow terminal five. It can also be bed-and-breakfast as long as either the hotel or the BMB are reasonable in cost . We have a LondonPass with transit and expect to do sightseeing. On the fifth we will need to go to Heathrow to pick up transit to a crew ship in South Hampton. Any help will be appreciated. You can PM me or post here. We would also be delighted to meet with any local TRF members for a meet up.

I will leave the hotel recommendations to the Londoners although I have my favourites. If you are flying to Southampton you may wish to go by train. Waterloo to Southampton is 80 min by train and it saves the 1 hour to Heathrow, the 2 hour checkin, the flight then the drive into Southampton. I can also give you the name of an excellent AD if you want to have a look in Southampton. Regards

We are flying in to Heathrow on 9/1 and staying till 9/5. Then we go back to Heathrow to pick up prearranged transit to the ship in Southampton.

I'd aim just outside centre to the west. South Kensington is good area with lots of B&B's without the ridiculous prices of W1.

We've been staying at The Stafford on St. Jameses just off Picadilly for about 20 years now. The location is great, it's a block from a major tube station (Green Park) and within walking distance to all the West End theatres.

My wife and I always stay at the Savoy. Love the old world charm.

x2. love the Stafford and location. if you want more of a local British experience I recommend it. The American Bar within the Hotel is fun as well.
