Last time I was in Vegas, Tourneau at Caesars was asking $8500 for a 2000-ish 16600, watch only as well. I told them I could get the 116600 for that, and they said "no way, those are $11k at least." I smiled and walked away. Maybe I should have sold them my 16600 I was wearing at the time. They would have probably told me my complete set was only worth $4k since it has the 'old' tritium dial.

It was the same thing at the Pawn Stars shop. Beat up over polished 16610 for $7500. Um...no.

I honestly think buyers have lost their mind as well. I would never pay over MSRP for anything, never mind a watch.

I would also never pay over MSRP for the older 5 digit models. I owned them all over the years and they were not worth MSRP back then, never mind what crazy guys are paying these days.

Rolex SS Sport watches ( Daytona, Sub, GMT) and select Patek references are all that matter in the watch market at the moment.

Surprisingly, some Seiko / Grand Seiko are doing well..much better than Breitlings, TAGS, IWC, Hublot..etc.

Those brands are pretty much toxic poison at this point and are being HARD passed on by dealers all over the world.

Yea prices seem up right now especially as of late trusted sellers.

I bought a NIB 116610 last July form a trusted seller. It came with everything, stickers, and even the sales receipt for 7250.

I have seen preowned go for more.

This thread was definitely interesting. So, my question is. Are some people speculating there may be a price increase coming soon at the Rolex AD? If this were ,or is the case, recent buyers will then have a little equity in their purchase and not be so under water if they decide to sell or flip. I don't know, I'm just babbling, so don't take to much thought in my response...

I have found this to be the case too. I have a TAG I bought new two years ago and I asked the dealer I bought it from what he would give me for it on trade for a different watch and he flat out told me he couldn't offer me anything for it. This is a $2800 watch and is in pristine condition with box and papers.

I still have the watch but I don't think I'd ever buy another TAG-Heuer.

Both ADs I buy from said their Rolex rep is discouraging discounts - something about how supply is going to be limited even on non-allocation pieces. Bought a BLNR a few months back for $8K OTD, now it's $8950+tax. The LV they always had in stock? Forget it, can't even order one now.

Max discount for steel is 5% now, even for sitters like the EXPII, OP, and Milgauss.
