Looks good to me
Should have the Rolex Caliber 3035 movement.

I think your photo shows the watch running, as I can not see the micro-stella screws. Like here:
https://www.google.es/search?q=Rolex...o-v0u0TPigM%3A

I am sure thats just the photo, as all looks OK to me

While I agree with the others that this is an authentic 1980's Sub Date with a replacement "service" dial and hands, I would be a tad cautious about the 168000 status. Although the exact serial number range for the 168000 is not know, 9.1 million seems a little early to me.

Because the 168000 was made for less than one year, it was once thought that it would become a very valuable collectible so there have been some 16800's that were unscrupulously converted to 168000's by stamping an extra "0" into the case. Sometimes, the extra zero is quite crude and doesn't match the other zeros, but this doesn't seem to be the case based on your one photo... Is it possible to get a very clear closeup of the reference number stamp??

OK
Movement is genuine I am sure to that!
But I do think the zero has been added its a 16800 NOT a 168000

AND, as David pointed out this is a "service dial" - its from Rolex but is a maxi dial with super luminova and not the original style of dial.

In my opinion, I would not buy it - but I am a "purist"

Sorry I never looked closely to see the dial is not original to that watch (my bad)

That extra "0" is looking a bit sketchy with the zoomed in photos...

Hi Guys,

I begin to fancy this watch more and more!

However, the 168000 really confuses me. If only produced for less than a year in '88-early '89, what will be the lowest serial number one could expect on a genuine 168000? I can find a number of conversion tables, all which will give different production years for a given serial number. Which one is to be trusted? The inconsistency of the conversion tables alone, seems to extend the production period to much more than 9 months.

I'm inclined to believe this is a modified 16800 as well. I've seen a 168000 IRL and the zero definitely does not match.

Shouldn't the model number be centered under "ORIG ROLEX DESIGN"?

16800 would be, this 168000 is not.

Dear Gladiator

I am talking about the 168000, not the 666 on my wrist. What would be the lowest serial number one could expect on a genuine 168000? Anyone?

Best, Jacob

Here is a photo of mine. Sorry but haven't quite got the hang of this macro lens yet.
This 168000 was purchased new by me from an AD in 1988. The serial is R590xxx
