It because that's them done with, just like the previous Kermit. It wasn't too outlandish to think that history would repeat itself in this matter. If you haven't got one then unlucky, if you have the' enjoy it and treasure it you have the greatest modern Rolex imo.

Bought one last year - June 2016 at $7,500. Traded in one day in favor of a YG sub. (hesitant sacrifice).
Saw one at Incheon Airport - December 2016 at $8,150. Immediately said yes but my dummy bank had a daily overseas limit of $5k on my debit card.
Have been looking new since then both in Asia and west coast US without success.
In the end got my hands on one this week for about $1,000 more than I paid last year for the original one.

if you paid $8,500 for that one, i guess it's still a reasonable price with the way the trend is going on right now.

I'm not even into green, but i'm flying next week and if I see one of these in stock at the airport (highly unlikely, but possible) I'm going to snatch it. Just because, hype.

Beautiful capture!

The lighting in AD's is usually super bright and doesn't represent what the watch will look like under normal lighting. They want the bright lights to make the diamond jewelry sparkle, hence making it more appealing to the eye and credit card!

With resellers posting images like this on Instagram is it any wonder there's an apparent shortage? They're completely unrelenting. I'd bet good money there are some trusted sellers that could provide images like that with nothing but ceramic Daytonas.

There's your problem, right there, artificially generated shortage to spike prices.
People get frenzied and pay more than they should, then lock it in the safe hoping it will gain further value, creating a real shortage on the secondary market.

Opinions much appreciated!!
case in point...personally I think both the Speedy and the Mil-Spec are nicer watches, regardless of collectibility/scarcity. If you really wanted a Hulk, why don't you already have one ?

Among all the country I've been in the past 3 months(Japan, Thailand, Malaysia, UAE, The Netherlands, German, the states), I didn't find any and even if the AD was willing to put me in the waiting list, it probably gonna take at least 6 months if I were lucky enough.

This is funny...AD that I purchased my LVc from will still provide me discount and can have it to me in a week. Guess I should pick one up and flip? lol
If Rolex is playing around with supply, I can understand...discontinue? Never.

Past 6 month ago, every AD & Boutique in the USA have 1 in the display case......

Not sure what is going on here..... There is a shortage of the LvC in the AD & Boutique today in the USA......

Now in the gray market they either don't have one or if they do it at an insane price.....

Kind of shock about this.....

There seems to be less availability of popular models from all top brands lately, not something exclusive to Rolex or the LVc.

Exactly. I have no problem with people making a profit, but what I see when I look at that picture is hoarding.

Several years ago Eric Ku (owner of VRF/World renown collector) picked the Hulk as the next modern collectible Rolex.

Has there ever been an intance when Rolex slowed down production of a particular model and then went on to mass produce them again? I spoke to an AD who said they are not even taking deposits at this time.

I'm not sure they are particularly rare. I got mine from an AD a little under a year ago. I certainly wouldn't recommend anyone paying anything over MSRP for one.

I was never a fan until I saw one in person. It just pops in a way that cannot be described. I know Rolex makes other references with a green dial, but none quite like this. I love the fact also that it only comes in stainless steel. There's just something cool about that.

Bingo. Totally agree. People's heads would explode if this happened but maybe Rolex should track the sale of these through AD's and restrict the supply of AD's that are offloading pieces to the grey market just to be hoarded and restrict supply.

No shop in Paris has them. When I walk in with one on my wrist I get plenty of chatter about the demand of the watch
