16600 Sea Dweller Question
Is there a date that Sea Dwellers stopped being sold with anchors, or were all 16600's sold with them?

The 5 digit Sea Dwellers used to come with an anchor until about 2003 I believe, although even then I'd heard it was hit or miss as it was something some AD's would throw in. I'm sure someone here will have better information.

No one knows for sure, but I think a lot of F serial sets had them last so right around then...2004/2005.

I bought mine in 2003 and came with screwdriver but without anchor.

Chaps
I had an anchor supplied with my 2003 16610 Sub Date. What is the purpose of it, I almost chucked it in the bin, I want a watch not a load of peripheral tat. If it wasn't for the ludicrous value associated with the box and papers, I would have chucked them as well. Regards Mick |

I worked for an authorized Rolex dealer and both the Sea Dwellers and Subs would always come with anchors. I remember we had a few employees when they would sell a Rolex they would cut off the tags and throw them in a drawer or away along with the anchor. Those were the employees that did not care or truly understand the Rolex buyer.

There exists a SD 4000 anchor. The anchor has the depth rating on it. I don't think it is included anymore and must have been discontinued somewhere during the earlier SD 4000 production, before the Z series. I miss my Z series. I got an earlier anchor for it aftermarket when I had the watch...

The anchors were phased out, as others have said between F and D serial. It correlates with the change from the older wooden interior leather effect boxes (included anchors) and the first of the wave top plastic boxes (without anchors).

Thank you all, this is very helpful. Sounds like my SD4k should have come with an anchor. It is an F serial number in the 580,000 range, with a wooden interior leather effect box.

I believe they came with the older boxes, and stopped with the newer, current boxes.

The Anchors have not been given with watches like the Subs and SD since around 2005.Ad there were gold coloured ones but not real gold, both types were just for marketing and of no real use.Today some pay very silly money for them IMO on places like Ebay.At one time most ADs had a supply and were quite happy to give them away to anyone who asked. Some of the very old vintage one now bring crazy prices and are a much better quality than the ones made over the past 20 odd years.I gave 3 away about 5 years ago to forum members, but in reality there must be millions of them around the world today. And expect that many were just thrown away or just put in a draw somewhere and long forgotten by the non WIS type.
