Bought last June, sold last September... not many regrets since I think it can still be reacquired at a reasonable price

Some of these limited Seikos are a priced a little beyond my capacity to appreciate them. I still wear and enjoy my padi turtle. Seiko's biggest competitor may be itself, because they sell a lot of good divers at reasonable prices

Ok, I thought you bought it later than that. I remember you sent me a PM letting me know they were available in City Chain. I was tempted but was too slow to fully warm up to it.

I reviewed my own post history and see that I bought on 13 July 2017

I like a few things in their current Japan catalogue, especially sbdc055 and sbdc059

My only issue with the 017 is the rubber strap. And even after replacing the OEM strap with another one from Uncle Seiko waffle, it still doesn’t work for me especially the hard plastic beneath the waffle.

No regrets and love this model every bit.

Any suggestions would be welcome!

Fortunately that's not the case for me and my SLA017; one year later and it spends more time on my wrist than in the safe

I'm trying to get a hold of the SLA025 - this would most likely be thee last LE for me as I can't pull off the big Tunas and not the biggest Turtle fan around. I will say though that the SLA025's €5K price tag is really pushing my limits. Yes, high-beat mvmt but still... we're approaching GS pricing and in fact my Blizzard GS cost me 5K...

Today's pick, no other than the star of this thread...

This is Santiago and am currently working in Panama and found one of these SLA017's in Panama City For $3365.15 so wondering if it's a good buy? and investment? Thanks

3365 total? Not a bad buy. Seems most sellers on chrono24 are asking significantly more and are willing to sit on their stock.

That said, I wouldn't call it an investment. There are 2000 units out there. If prices creep up enough, more will come on the market and dampen prices

And there's only so much demand for high end Seiko diver LEs. We already have SLA019 and SLA025, with surely more to come

I love the design principles behind it
The size / weight doesn't work as well as the SLA017 with the waffle strap and I would eventually swap that strap out for something different. It doesn't help that it has the same 19mm lug-width; perhaps 22mm would have made life easier but just like the SLA017, it is a pretty accurate tribute...
Review is in the works

They're both very nice! Which one is more to your liking? I myself am very curious to see what they do for next year... most are banking on a 6105 Turtle tribute... time will tell

I ended up getting the golden tuna and I'm wear it much more than the SLA. I like the contrast of the gold against the black and the sla just never ran that accurately for me..unfortunately I dont seem to get good accuracy out of seiko mechanicals in general, and the local service center is useless.

Put it on an isofrane strap and its very comfortable...

Congrats, looking both good and comfortable

Yeah well, my most accurate Seiko is my Spring-Drive GS... but sadly, the two mechanicals, despite movements with "provenance" (8L35 & 8L55) both run very fast... could be worse, I hate slow mvmts

Nice capture The lume on the SLA017 (& even on the not-new-and-improved SBDX001) is the best. I'd even go as far as saying it has bested my Panerais...

I was enjoying mine just this past Wed...

Just picked up a few "Uncleseiko" straps for my Prospex trio.
The jury's still out in terms of comfort, durability & quality but here a are some pics of US's Tropic & Waffle vs. OEM silicon (from the SLA017, SLA025 & very most likely, the upcoming SLA033):

SLA017 & Tropic

MM300 & Waffle

SLA025 & OEM (uncleaned to show the lint-magnet characteristics...)

All (incl. SBDX001 OEM strap)
