International money transfer.

If I was to sell something internationally. I’m in the UK and buyer in Europe or USA.

What is the safest way to receive the money?.

A way where once I send the item, the money cannot be reversed, cancelled, or taken back somehow ?.

I’m always wary with this kind of thing after being stung by PayPal a while ago.*

*sold a domain, received money, transferred details to buyers, buyer reversed payment somehow. Leaving me with no domain or money..

Wire. Once it's received, it's final.

Is there a technical term for this ?.

Don’t laugh please.

Bitcoin or another cryptocurrency. The recipient has all the benefit. The sender assumes all the risk because it is impossible to cancel a transaction. Of course, the seller still has to convert back to fiat currency of choice which can be a hassle and will result in some fees.

The PayPal chargeback scam you experienced is common.

Ok thanks. I think that’s running before I can even walk with this process . . Noted for the future though, thanks.

This. By law, (here in the uk) once transfer cleared it is final. It can only be reversed after a complaint has been lodged.

Bank transfer is the same thing. It's an account to account transfer.

Crypto currency is highly volatile and can be slow to cash out. You cash out when there is a buyer, not when you want it. If you're into crypto, then go for it, but I wouldn't set up a wallet just for a sale.

I agree. Right now it takes a lot of setup to get started. And then if you use Coinbase, your exchange rate is less than current market value and with the selling fee you’ll lose about 2.5-3% of the transaction amount.

There are ways to reduce the fee to 0.25% and get full trading price, but that’s even more hassle. Once setup though, a seller is sitting pretty if a buyer is willing to use it. You receive the money in as little as a few minutes and it can’t be reversed.

Bank wire is best; think Paypal friends & family can’t be reserved neither after a day or so

1. Bitcoin is the best. It's really not the hard to do, but if you're not that familiar with it, and you're in the EU, go to option 2.

2. You're in the EU. Simply have them make a transfer with IBAN. This, per EU law, is 100% free for both parties and once it's in your account, they can't pull it back. Will usually take less than 48 hours to clear. I can send money to you within a minute on my bank's app, easy breezy.

3. Regarding Paypal goods payments, simply don't do it. I refuse to take Paypal for any high dollar purchase at this point. Too many scammers and way too easy to do it claiming wrong item, empty box, etc. My threshold is about $1k, over that, I won't accept Paypal. There's literal forums for scamming with Paypal on the internet, it has gotten incredibly bad the past few years.

4. Do not listen to any advice regarding 'Paypal friends and family'. This is easily reversible via a chargeback. and you will have absolutely ZERO paypal seller protection, as to Paypal, this was a 'gift or donation' to begin with and you're out nothing.

Paypal is literally a joke for sellers at this point. I perused said ^forums to try and prevent myself from scammers after a few bad burns, and found out all of their loopholes and tricks. It's insanely easy to game Paypal's system, you will almost every time lose a case as a seller, even with video evidence. and any appeal you make, will be entirely luck based with the specialist you get.

That being said, if you want to sell on here....I honestly wouldn't mind accepting Paypal if the member was established, actively posted, etc. 99% of scammers will try to be low key with no attachments. If you have a guy who is a consistent poster, it's very, very unlikely he's up to no good.

That isn’t true at all. You can cash out instantly in Coinbase, GDAX, Gemini or Kraken. Volatility isn’t an issue if you use a rapid currency and sell immediately. Fees are what you have to watch.

I’ve seen this comment on here several times. Maybe in 2014 this applied, but it doesn’t reflect the state of crypto in 2018.

Very informative thank you. Think I’ll go wire/ bank transfer route.
